If your after a fry up, you can do a lot worse than "Mumm's Cafe" on Albert road.
Not a lot to see on Hayling, best bet is to get the ferry from Eastney and then just do the sea front. In fact, if the suns out, a great route would be from Old portsmouth right along to the ferry, then along the hayling sea front and back. Would recommend the pitch and putt on hayling beach, lovely little nine hole.
Edit, food for later on - there is a bar called "porters" on albert road too (the other end) they do fantastic afternoon food. Or right near them is also Fat Fox and Little Jonny Russells, they're worth a shout.
