  • YouTube- Rollapaluza's Caspar tries Cycle Speedway

yes, it is a Colnago speedway bike:

Wicked sport, really enjoyed it, thanks to the Sheffield Stars for being so friendly and helpful.....

  • That looks like a LOT of fun, they were totally playing with Caspar though!

  • Indeed, and that was just the kids, there was also some UK and Polish internationals training too.....I kept up with the Pole for two turns....whoot!

  • good stuff. grass roots and hardcore racing, hope you will be going to support the club in east London.
Sheff a premier league club too, good track eh?

  • Rode at the same track at a try out event late last year, great fun.

  • Oxford has an Awesome cycle speedway club!!
We went down there last year and gave it a try and shot a film:

YouTube- Cycle Speedway - Sunday is for Speedway - Horspath Hammers

Their first premier league match is this weekend.
    http://horspathcsc.co.uk

  • Looks like a lot of fun.
As a Pole I've got that thing for speedway.

  • Yeah the Polish are generally pretty handy.
I think Horspath are flying in a Polish rider for their first Premier League match tomorrow against Norwich.

    I can't wait.

Here's some more of my footage, part of a short film I'm working on:

  • That looks like amazing fun!!

  • Hehe, I don't think I'd even be able to complete a lap of this. Straight roads FTW! :)

  • Looks like a lot of fun.
As a Pole I've got that thing for speedway.

There are few Polish riders at the track in Bournemouth/Poole where my mate races.

  • we are sorting an eve soon, wedsday probably because the fixie pixies from Bomo want to try it,
I have contacts there at Baiter park, it really is a lovely place to go and suffer sprints on bikes........

  • Caspar looks like a little kid. £10 says I'd ride straight into the fence in the first lap.

  • You wouldn't have to go fast--no-one would be able to get past you on such a narrow track, anyway. ;P

  • Sometimes I wish I was younger and more agile...

  • We had a mess about on the Norwich track one night, was a good laugh. Keep meaning to go and try it out for real.

  • yes, it is a Colnago speedway bike:

colnago never have made a fillet brazed frame, nor anything in 531.
fact! it is a british frame, made for british speedway, can't remember the builder (possibly from pearly way around croydon) who did the so called triple triangle for these.....but i will

  • But they did make sticker kits.. as found on every second ebay bike..

  • colnago never have made a fillet brazed frame, nor anything in 531.

It was made by Ernesto himself after a visit to Sheffield, the finish is Pearlescent Blue, which is proably why you're confused, BTW hope you didn't lose your Rolla tee shirt on the way home!..Also I can see five triangles....maybe even more.

  • damn right, chunks.
all colnago frames have been made with hi-end columbus tubing. nout else.
and i know how many triangles are on the frame, but he didn't generally fillet braze.

ps.s it was my father in law that corrected me on the above after showing him..........grrrrrrrr!!

    thanks winston/caspar for the t-shirt

    • edit what -shirt?? pfffffftttttt.
  • That looks a right laugh. What GI do they generally use?

  • bout 45", if you lookin to spin- its the sport for you.
(btw the coach at Poole Ben has one of them Columbus T//T frames it is a beaut, cant remember the name of it right now...must try harder....)

  • Doug Pinkerton, midlands custom build.

rare T.A French cranks are de riguer

    Columbus.

and a new Archie just for good measure.

  • Hi

Is there anyone in the South London are that might be interested in Cycle Speedway as i used to race and have been to the track in Garrat Lane and it wouldn't take a lot to get it in order.

By the way the bikes above I think were made by Mike Goff Ace Cycles.

He made the one I now use to get about on.
