breadnbikes Cheap and cheerful
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ProductDetail.aspx?Cat=cycle&ProdID=5360020503&N=LifeLine%20Bicycle%20Tool%20KitI have one of these kits. They do the trick. It's a bugger because I have a full set of tools back home but this was a nice kit to do most stuff with.
The chain breaker managed to fit my Shadow Interlock chain - I was worried it wouldn't after Will from HubJub mentioned they kill cheaper tools. -

are those shadow chains any good??
-

Define 'good'?
Looks nice, 'looks' strong, hasn't come off, isn't noisy (relative term), half-links so length is easy to tweak (i got lazy and left it too long), my chainbreaker worked on it. Cheaper chains are available.

Hi guys.. I searched but couldn't find much solid information. There were threads like Tool Porn and Best Tools but they were more like a showcase of the best tools you guys use.
I'll be picking up my new OTP fixie this week, so looking to buy extra tools as I have excess left over from my Ride2work scheme.
I already have
Spare inners tubes
Tire removal plastic things
Allen Key set
Adjustable spanner (for pedals?)
Bike Pump**What else do I need and should get at the same time with my new bike?
Tools for general maintenance and basic repairs. Some description as to what the tools actually do would be great help.
If there are other same threads or links please let me know. Thanks!

track pump indeed, crucial investment. After riding with 100-120psi for a while there's no going back

http://www.weldtite.co.uk/16/pages/knowledge-centre/essential-tools.aspxVery basic but explains it all in a simple manner.
Zinn book and Haynes are useful - Park also do online guides.

really? What track pump do you have? Doesn't sound like the awesomely named Joe Blow
POS from my LBS

I always carry a couple of zip ties, as well as the usual tools. They weigh next-to-nothing but you'll be amazed the number of times they come in handy.

You'll die on a fucking mountain, cold and alone.

What rangefinder, just out of interest?
-

Ha, I seldom carry a camera whilst cycling, if I did it would be my Ricoh R10, not some film type thing.
Sorry to disappoint.
