Wish I were doing this. I think I might even have been one on the people the one to mention Avebury.
For those planning the London to Avebury version, I'd suggest heading out to Ealing and picking up the A4, which should be pretty flat and fast. If you're looking to be early then head off at Newbury for Membury Services. This is on quite a few audaxes so despite being a motorway services they're quite used to cyclists rolling in the back for coffee and food. After that it's a fairly pleasant roll through Badbury and Ramsbury into Marlborough to rejoin the A4 over to Avebury.
