You can always reset the iPhone back to it's original condition once you sync it with iTunes to save your 'setting'.
thus when the new iPhone come out, just plug it in and transferred the setting from the old phone*
*speculation, not sure if it will work considering you're transferring your old detail from your old phone to the new one with different number.
