When you say cross strap - do you mean a second shoulder strap?
The citizen has the under arm 'cross-chest load stabilizer' strap
But otherwise would agree - I could comfortably get suit, shirt and tie in there, but if I also need shoes it was possible but just made it a tad uncomfortable hence going for the bagaboo
