Almost certain that it's a gearbox, some DH bikes use them.

Just built a front wheel for my wife with one - I had assumed they were system-x rebranded but the guy in Condor said Sugino makes them. Exactly same measurements as sys-x with the calipers though...

No idea, why don't you go to Condor and ask them if they have any Potenza frame to try out?
I did try out a potenza. Liked it and bought one. Just would like to know if the Gazetta is similar but can't find it made-up anywhere. Hey ho.

@summerson- was your potenza off the peg or a custom build? If so, how long was the wait time they quoted?

Custom. I went with some standard Condor stuff like hubs and seat post, but also got Deda stem and bars, Miche crankset, Mavic wheels, etc.
Lead time is a slightly galling 4-6 weeks. Kind of annoying when I see loads of people out enjoying good cycling weather...

Yeah, they quoted me 5-6 weeks. I ordered mine in the beginning of May so mine should be ready soon. The wait has been brutal.

Well enjoy it when it arrives. Let me know how it rides. I agonised for ages over which frame to get...

sounds fishy, i've never heard of sugino hubs before

Hi its Sammy here from Condor. I would just like to clear this up, the hubs are made to our specification, for us, by Formula. There super reliable and we carry bearings, axles and lockrings for them, when they need changing. Most are double fixed, though we have a few left in fix/free. They now only come in 32H, though we may have some 36H left.

Good to know. Now tell me one more thing - why does it take Condor sooooooooo long to put a bike together? A six week lead time is sort of ridiculous. If there are so many orders coming in, can't you just hire an extra pair of hands?

Remember, Condor is actually quite a small company despite having an appearance of a large company, and they're quite overwhelmed with orders (which show no sign of slowing down), so the six weeks lead time is to be expected when there's a lots of customer who want their bike to be build.
Having been to their warehouse, it's already quite obviously that they're working as fast as possible making sure that each bike they send out is in perfect working order (and I mean perfect).
It is also worth noting that all the Condor bikes are put together from scratch, not from a box like Specialized, Trek, etc. that only required a few quick adjustment to get it roadworthy.
I hope that explain the long waiting time to get your bike build.

I appreciate that Ed, but a lot of companies - big or small - would love to be overwhelmed with business right now, and I think six weeks is pushing it. Surely, they could employ another person?
As for being in perfect working order, Entropicp picked up his Potenza complete with a couple of scratches and a dinged hub. I hope standards aren't slipping, especially as their prices are pretty sporting...

how much are the condor branded messenger cranks out of interest?

Just to clear this up, Condor did replace the scratched stem and brake lever when I mentioned it and they agreed to build a new wheel to rectify the dinged hub, so that is fair play on Condor's part.
