Pub wise there is the Head of the River, which has a big beer garden and is right in the centre, but a bit expensive. I don't know of many places in the centre with a big garden... but there is the option of heading along the river a little to one of the pubs on the tow path. If people fancy that option then it might be better to alter the route slightly to get onto the Thames at Sandford or Iffley and follow the tow path along. Would save us having to navigate the busier parts of the path closer to town. I don't really mind, just throwing some suggestions out there...
