Kids track riding?

Our nine year old has been showing interest in track riding. Anyone know if Herne Hill or anywhere near London holds kids open days or intro sessions?

HH does. Starter sessions are on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m.

Sutton does a lot of kids' bike racing too, as does Hackney. There's also a very lively Herne Hill MTB club based at the velodrome.

Crystal Palace Tri, my club, have an active youth section, and I think a regular Tuesday evening session at Herne Hill. Never been myself to these sessions, but have heard good reports about sound coaching and a friendly, non macho atmosphere.

All good advice. Saturdays 9-10, or Fridays 5-6 are open sessions for youth beginners. Also the holiday club during all school holidays.

Herne Hill's the only place in London to get into track racing specifically. Where in London do you live? As the others have mentioned ther. Are quite a few other kids clubs in London a while they don't have the luxary of a track they do lots of road and MTBing.

Thanks everyone, huge help. We're based in Brockley, but more than willing to drive somewhere that has the right atmosphere. The MTB club sounds interesting too.

I have to bring my 14 yo as well. He does feck all, but thinks he's a champion cyclist with his seat post all the way up to his arm pits

I hear there's a great BMX scene going on amongst the Peckham kids also. Just like the old days in Hounslow ...
