  • There is a small geared, grey Felt outside a second hand shop on Green Lanes where it joins Newington Green just near the Tesco's. Didn't have time to stop and ask about it and had no phone to take a pic but it didn't feel right. Might be worth a look

I'm going past there in about 30 mins on my way back from work. I will try and get photos, if it doesn't look too dodgy.

Yeah, I'm not sure about doing this, the guy tends to stand outside the shop and I think it might just alert him but see what you think. I've looked up the model and it sounds spot on.....have PM'd the OP and put it in his other thread and so hopefully he'll pick this up soon.....

  • Have just looked. Have photos etc. But as only have iPhone access will email the owner if he wants to see. I didn't see red bar tape, it was black. Very identifiable carbon fibre bottleholder. She wanted 250 for it which I promptly declined, and she offered a discount. Was offered a test ride too (my acting skills are impeccable) but I decided the consequences would be harsh I it wasn't his bike.

Also has some form of computer on it, can't identify from the photo. Pm if you want pictures.

  • Just seen a beut of a red raleigh frame with purple deep V's in Dulwich just off Rye lane near the tesco's. Ridden by a very young kid - too big for him, gang of kids around him - hope it's not stolen but if so it's there

Fuckers. You described that in a way which makes me rage. This whole thread makes me rage..

would be good to send your pics to Minhdimh as it sounds like a match from what he said http://www.lfgss.com/thread44705.html#post1444796

even if its not his bosses its moody as fuck don't you think?

  • Housemate just had her bike stolen from London Bridge station a few hours ago, its pretty distinctive, if anyone sees it around the markets etc. today be really grateful for a shout, cheers...

Dawes Celeste (white with blue, red, and yellow stripes)
    Yellow front tyre
    White taped drops
Full set of gears and brakes
    Black BMX platform pedals

  • Saw a dodgy looking guy riding around a mat-black Bianchi single speed, nice white hubs, purple pedals i think. He was riding into Brick Lane with a can of beer in his hand. If it's yours, it was at Brick Lane this morning.

  • I was down brick lane from 9 this morning til about 1.30pm....

there were loads of bikes as usual though not many track/racers/things with skinny wheels which was sort of a relief though I really really wanted my mates lemond to be there...I will get that fucker back...I don't know...it's just too nice, he's just too nice, and this will be the fourth bike that he has had stolen...3 I have built for him...and one that was mine that I lent him so he had a ride after one got nicked...which after 10 days of having it..got stolen *along with the rails it was locked to *with 6 other bikes outside bistrotheque on wadeson street, bethnal green, (you need to know that the thieves bought the fucking railings back a week later to perpetuate the random 'lets stealthe railings gag''...

And, The ChinaMan™ (racist) had a got a huge GT frame with a dialable bottom bracket with full suss, a few other frames that were not that interesting, quite few fixed wheels that were on the back seat of his car one was an 'onone' hubbed, one was BLB hubbed, both black.
The interesting thing this week was that he had loads fo posh forks...ie ...light well constructed forks...maybe 7 pairs...3 chrome 'standard' steel lugged crown shape forks...lugless though (though that shape, I making sense?), some very nice satin black round (not oval) track forks with no drilling,
Now, some one has recently had a salmony baby pink frame powdercoated...the very distinctive coloured (even though common as shite...;D...) forks are there too, where is the frame who knows...though the forks are definitely there..
another pair of black oval small rake.
    one black ...one brown brookes...

the police were ponsing around on there bvikes all morning...there were 5 of them riding away from brick lane at 9am...and then later about 11am...proceeded to hang around the bagel shop whilst nodding and smiling and being all very people friendly and shaking hands and what made my fucking blood boil was that round the corner on cheshire street it was business as usual...,not one or two of maybe 15 fucking policemen went and stood on the corner...

just fucking one would have stopped the trade...

I saw a gary fisher that must have been maybe £500 go for 70 fucking quid...

I obviously twice went and shouted rude things at the police and bit ones head off that tried to tell me to calm down...

he told me about the 'bigger picture'...and I asked him if he wanted me to write it on his hand...

why the fuck have your lovey pr campaign outside the fucking bagel shop? just incase they run out of donuts...argh...ffs...at 1 oclock they arrested someone as some sort of token gesture...they were 3 hours to late...

    pissed off...fuming,...livid...

I'm such an unhappy bunny about this ...had to get it off my chest ...sorry!

I also saw T-cort...Courtney from easts...good to see you mister..ps have a thought about frame!

  • You need to go earlier to catch the really nice bikes, 8am-ish. My dad is pro at recovering stolens. There wasn't that much notable today, as you said Mr Chinaman was selling some ridiculously nice forks. The van nextdoor to him has an industrial tool thingy (for cutting locks) on blatent show, scummy looking guy.
I agree with the whole police presence thing, absolute farce. Didn't see one at all in my time spent there today. Seen a group of CSO's down in Angel giving out balloons to kids and flimsy locks (which any decent thief would crack open in seconds), one CSO dressed up in a police mascot outfit. I hate to sound Daily Mail-esque but it's outrageous.

  • I am posting this up for George who bought the bike off me - poor guy was bike jacked in Camden today. He has no internet access at the mo, so please PM me or call on Zero79SixEight 05Six One4Seven

    His user name is Crucifixi

The bike is one of 30 ever made, so super rare, and very unique.

I've seen that within the last week or so on Prince of Wales road, near the overland station and heading from KT towards Chalk Farm.

The Holdsworth stickers have been covered over but the colour and everything looks right.

I'll keep an eye out and if I see it again will be sure to folow him.

In edit. It woud have been Thursday evening - around 7ish.

  • As this thread depresses me so much, I'm glad to be able to post a tale of a stolen bike successfully recovered.

This from a mate's Facebook this week.

"Bike robbed weds // gumtree ad for identical bike appears thurs // 'geordie Jon' meets mike tyson's twin outside dodgy pub to see goods // all is as suspected // mike gets distracted when asked directions by passer by (thanks whoever you were) // adrenaline rush, foot down, don't look back // opportunity to rightfully reclaim goods dutifully taken // the thief becomes the thieved // sha // moan // mothafukka!!"

just saw a news report on tv talking about the new police officers on bikes who have been assigned to brick lane to tackle bike theft. reading your post and then seeing that made me chuckle a bit

hey did you see that lemond I posted about halfway up the page? I was there from about 9 and didn't see anything ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

please tell me you didn't...it has to be hidden or lurking ...

  • rode through early saw the GT, our pal also had a sort of orangey - red fix no brakes 55cm ? Philips of Nottingham? with crude cut down bullies bandaged badly. Chunky 35c? tyres. Hotchy potchy thing but someone loved it.

Saw Bianchi man with purple pedals drinking Fosters, classy.

The other square (where shouting bananawoman is) had about 5 hot bikes including quite nice 501 geared.

  • was there too this morning, full suspension orange klein being touted about.

  • Oh god, this is all so depressing. I had my bike stolen last night as well.
Although I am a girl, not that easily upset, but i was literally crying into the arms of a stranger on the street...
Now i've been scouring the streets in my car trying to spot blue bikes, like some crazed hunter...

My friend custom built it for me with vintage and new bits and bobs. I'm looking for some picts, but i'm not so good at keeping records etc, just liked riding it. Now i have to get the bloody tube to work.
-single speed fixed wheel, smallish frame- i'm 5'6"
-turquoisy blue bright frame with quite allot of scratches and dents with red/white paint flakes showing through.
-honey brown brooks womens saddle with some scratches from a jeans stud pocket error of judgement.
-matching brooks bar tape on bullhorn bars with one cork bar end and one silver one, had a cork end stolen last week, but i guess that's the last of my worries now.
    -anodised silver paul front brake
-vintage campagnolo front brake- frame drilled to accomodate
-silver wheels, std rims, front radial spokes
    -white vittoria tyres
-silver crank, pedals, toe clips, quill stem, seat post
-royal blue christophe leather toe straps
-white bell with clubs, spades, hearts, diamonds print (from a holiday to japan so never even seen one anywhere else)
-shimano headset- in cheap plasticy gray- which was the last thing i was looking to replace...

Was chained to a bike post outside the Stag pub Fleet Road, London, NW3. Hampstead near overground Heath rail station, M&S, Royal free hospital...who'd have thought a posh area would accommodate such thieving bastards. I'd been pond swimming and stopped in for a drink. Friend left at 5 and was still there, but i'd got chatting to some people and left at 9- it had gone. Bouncers on the door due to a wedding reception got there at 6 and told me it wasn't there then. So, main road in broad daylight...

I know i shouldn't have to, but i will pay to get this back. if anyone sees it for silly cheap, please buy it and i'll reimburse you and make you a cake or something as well. I would actually like to run over the fucker who took it, but i just start to sound like a mad woman...i am pretty angry though.

Good luck to anyone else and fingers crossed for all stolen bikes to be returned to their rightful owners. Already looking, brick lane, gumtree, ebay...

    thankyou, Thida

  • Thank you for this mate. It is useful and I'm happy to know it's still within the local vicinity. Do you have any other info? What was he wearing, what colour was the tape, did you get any visual on him? Any info will really help, thanks a lot.

And yes Camdenstrangler, you spotted dodgy Bianchi man too! That bike was kind of hawt...

I did not see a Lemond of any sort, sorry can't help you there. :(

I've seen that within the last week or so on Prince of Wales road, near the overland station and heading from KT towards Chalk Farm.

There's some rather dodgy areas just a couple of hundered yards down the road.

I live nearby so will keep an eye open.

  • I know, I shouldn't be so naive and dodgy people get about. It just totally screwed up what had been a nice day up to that point...thank you.

  • Sorry to hear that, Thida. Do you know what make the frame was? It might aid easy recognition. If unbadged, it might be harder to pinpoint that it's yours. Also, someone will be around in a bit to ask what lock you used. (I'm not asking, BTW.) Good luck in recovering it!

Sorry.. Try and find a photo and post it.

Chains are weak, buy a New York Lock and quick release seat post = Brookes = thief magnet.

  • @tea please....I Live in the area, will keep an eye out too....sorry for your loss.
