Colnago introduced straight forks in 1988.
Once Colnago were established as a brand then, as Will says, they got Columbus to make special tubing for them. Your frame might be SLX, but it was probably drawn to Colnago's spec.
Nice frame. Argos will do a good job of re-chroming. Other options are Mercian and maybe Colourtech in Dartford. I doubt you'll find anyone who'll do it for much cheaper than £80 though.
