  • Sorry if im being annoying here but...

The Geometry of this bike doesnt make much sense.

I am 5'8" , not the biggest bloke but like to think of myself as bigger than a child. Yet I need a 52cm, top tube.

These frames have a 53cm TT making them far from suitable for a small person/child. Even in your picture the bike has had to be setup with a BMX style short stem, which puts the bars well behind the wheel centre which will make the bikes handle poorly.

A short seatube does not make these "small bikes" for small people. A shorter TT & possibly 650c wheels would.

Also, why such a long back end? Surely something a little tighter would be better for a track specific bike?

Hey, I get where you are coming from however... I think you are missing the point a little, this bike will fit a child that is *growing....ie *you can lift the seat from ...weeny...ie 43 cm..

    to big...54cm...

that goes from 10yrs old...to wherever...

I was looking for a sub 50cm frame...it took for fucking ever....

I'm sure all your points are valid...

however...trying to get small frames..reasonably good ones? means you have to trawl round looking for bikes that were made for midgets with really deep pockets. ( so thats probably an njs frame...ouch...and that also wasn't meant to be hugely xenophobic towards anyone that is short, had deep pockets or is japanese..thankyou!)

A really good small track frame...is upwards of £300 plus

this means little non gender specific child...that may need a bike to have go on the track and be the next whoever...isn't restricted by the opportunity to find the damned frame in the first place....and then restricted price wise because 'its' parents will have to buy 'it' another £300 frame in the next 2 years...that sort of money keeps a lot of children that aren't particularly wealthy out of sports that require a huge initial outlay, thats the difference between cycling and football...

If you want to be a professional footballer, you need a ball(£15), 22 boys, and some jumpers...a beach and will...(that works very well for Brazil)

A runner...shorts...(Ethiopian long distance runners, arguably some of the best in the world...don't even wear trainers (research is now saying thats probably better in the long run...nice pun.. thanks...;D)

a bmx'er...a bmx of reasonable quality...

you want to be a professional track(or road) cyclist...you need a legal track bike..(£200-£1000), shoes (50), helmet(50), gloves(20), transport to nearest cycle race/track...subs,...the list is endless..

thats before he has scored his first 'goal'..

When you read about Coppi's nightmare trying to get a frame to fit him as a kid...It broke his heart.

    Next time you see a good quality sub 50cm frame...one built for someone with a 22-23 24'' leg.....like maybe a 46cm?

    post it here...

it will be a damned long time before you do. honest...and I do agree about the top tube...it is long...it could be a lot shorter, though the only way you get round having a really short seat tube, is to have a long top tube (if you have a really short top tube wouldn't you get pedal strike?...though on a track that doesn't matter, ,...I don't know...meh!) 650 wheels I would have thought would be I think too specialized and also bring the running costs up a lot.

I think it is meant to be a bit cheap and cheerful, though that doesn't necessarily make it a bad thing. It's an entry level bike for a 10 year old

once said child has started to actually enjoy it and has that glint of progression and passion for stuff, then maybe ...they get a better bike...

though to be honest, my child wouldn't be on one, I'd find a frame that was built for a midget with huge pockets..with a passion for oddly sized wheels that are a fucker to get good tyres for.

If this sounds like bollocks then I hold up my hands, I've been awake for a very long time, and I'm writing a eulogy for a childs bike at 6 am...

    have mercy.
