I am resurrecting this thread to remind anyone that hasn't checked their chainring (and crank) bolts and tighten them up. I did the other day as I was fitting a new crankset to the Christmas Quinn (tm), and found they were loose on both my other bikes.
cheerio.

Small diggage,soz.
Struggling to get some chainring bolts off an old crank, mostly because I haven't got the right tool. Any tips on what I can use as a substitute to this tool? -

Flathead screwdriver.
Or drill.

Is evans the easist place to get a set of single chain ring bolts at the mo? Tried to by some in holloway at the weekend and was told £2.50 per anodised bolt and why would I want steel? Whilst Evans want £5 a set.
Cheers for the advice and points if ddelivered to SE drinks tonight too.

Cycle surgery and Evans both charge £4.99 for silver steel bolts or 6.99 for black cr-mo steel bolts.

I've had problems with alloy chainring bolts in the past. I may have overtightenend them though.
I'm using the ssteel ones sold by velosolo. They've stayed good.
Haha!
Talking of chainring bolts, I need some too. The ones I have a re too long for the crank/chainring combo and dont tighten up at all. They tighten onto themselves but not the ring/crank.
Anyone know the shortest bolts you can get?
