don't know but they're no fancy reynolds or columbus tubes. it's not a lightweight racer but a relaxed tourer... and indeed it has a certain quality in looks. i like the paint & details like the little crown in fork crown, and the fact it has all french parts, very original (and a bit chauvinist as per 'de rigueur' ;))

Mercier used Reynolds in the 70's - I have a Mercier 300 which is 531. I think they used columbus from the early 80's though

Worth the money, they're decent bikes. I had a 70's one which was columbus tubing, shimano 600 group set and it was pretty light...
