Saturday/Sunday Long(ish) Rides Club (SSLRC)

Posted on
  • Thought I'd start a new thread so as not to mix things up in the bi-weekly Surrey Sunday Training Club

So, this is for anyone that wants to put together longer (65miles+) rides, on a weekend (Probably mostly Sunday but could be Saturday depending on weather)

    WHEN - Sunday May 9th 2010 @0900
WHERE - Roehampton cafe in Richmond Park

70 mile route starting , riding out to Effingham then doing the SSTC 5 Witches route. Tasty climbs, technical descents and some nice rolling bits.

I'm amenable to others meeting us on the way, e.g. at Effingham Station if want to go shorter...

Will regroup at junctions and top of climbs but otherwise no planned stops and a reasonable pace.

Haven't envisaged this being a regular thing but if there's weeks when there's nowt else on it may come into play.

  • What time do you think you will be at Effingham Junction?

I may be up for this if weather and chest oblige.

Well, it's 15 miles from RP to Effingham. If we say 09.15ish by the time we've met up and got going It'll probably be 10.15 / 10.30ish at effingham? That sound about right?

  • Looks like there's some rain forecast for early tomorrow. will check in about 8

  • If it's pissing it down I'll jump on the train, otherwise see you at RP!

  • I think I will come out to RP. See you in a bit.

  • Looks dry ATM, and forecasts look good so see you all there.

  • Thanks guys that was a great ride.

    Metric data here

  • Cheers guys, great ride! Tired now though......

    Blood, sweat and beers

  • I've eaten the house. Now for sleep.

    Any word from Dovvles?

  • Hey guys, lovely to meet you and thanks for the ride. I am so sorry for having to bail on you and glad you all got home OK. Ended up finding way to Dorking and then getting train back from there so was all OK.

  • Who's out to play this Sunday June 6th?

Will be around the effingham etc area, maybe ride out from Richmond, maybe hit Box Hill...

route TBC, about 60/70 miles, need one last decent roll before sportive the week after...

  • Who's out to play this Sunday June 6th?

I am, even if this little list has difficulty getting off the ground. Cambridge on the Saturday, Surrey on the Sunday, 'ray.

The only prohibitive factor will be mental weather. Currently the weather people are suggesting, "Saturday good, Sunday lightning".

  • Sorry to bail on the party of one, but I've revised my weekend to accommodate the predicted Sunday rainfall. Friday: Caning, Saturday: Cambridge, Sunday: Slacking.

Sorry again. It's really good ground, is Surrey.
