fishing ride sounds awesome - definitely up for that. 50-70 miles each way would be more pleasant though. especially on the return journey.
no idea where one could do such a thing though.

Im up for the fishing part but riding a 100miles to get there seems a little excessive. Too much time with Rob has turned you into somekind of hippymasochist.

yeah fishing sounds good..but 100..miles my little legs would never carry me that far

Century ride is a winner. Fish as fuel is a double winner.

Are you guys forgetting that fishing requires approximately an entire day?

The prospect of riding that far does worry me, but only because rob would do it at a ridiculous pace, perhaps 6 hours rather than 8 or 9. But yeah 100 miles one way is a bit mad - as a round trip it would be OK though. Are you guys forgetting that fishing requires approximately an entire day?
Nah! A dude from work goes mackerel fishing somewhere, says it doesn't take much time and they just seem to jump onto the line - he says he felt really bad because you end up with far too much fish for one person. I'll try and find out where he went...

When its hot, mackerel, and also on the rare occassion sardines & tuna come to our coast.
If you go somewhere like Barmouth, you can pay for a day out on a fishing boat. You need a fairly large group to make it worthwhile. I havent been on one myself but I hear they give you rods n stuff. I went there a couple months ago and tried beach fishing but it was still cold and there was nothing about.
Its still a pretty fucking far ride to the sea, probably 130miles minimum. The ride to barmouth goes through the valley next to snowdonia and looks really amazing though.
I still think its too far for me though, especially as I dont have a bike that fits me properly. You guys should go there unless we can find some good river fishing more nearby.

Remember Heart of the Country? I remember Tony Francis chatting to some geezer on there about how there was great fish to be had from rivers in the Midlands. Or perhaps Herefordshire. This was probably 1998 or something. But anyway. There MUST be somewhere nearby! Only problem is doing it without having to have your own gear.I will find out sooner or later... otherwise I'm just gonna go ride with a tin of tuna.

Perhaps a tea/coffee ride is more realistic. Coffee has a bit too much caffeine in it for me though. I could sup 10 different varieties of tea and not feel like I'm about to die. What's the name of that ace tea shop in London, near Oxford Circus tube station? Their tea selection is ace but their cake is so dry that it causes rainfall

Most of the places will hire equipment and provide tuition etc.
Should be a good day out.
Anyone fancy a slow pedal to somewhere up to 100 miles away, where fishing can be done without having to take your own gear, then barbecueing freshly caught fish, eating it with some sort of high carbohydrate foodstuff, and cycling back the next day?
If anyone knows of any locations nearby please share.
Also... a coffee ride might be on the cards soon. Pre-ground vac-packed coffee from Aldi just ain't cutting it flavour-wise.
