i'm still sticking with the point that its WAY more fun to ride with a low gear ratio. try it. you wont go back.
I've gone from 47 -18, 48-19, 47-20, 46-19 and i'm now happy with 44-19. Faster off the line, easier to slow down, skid, chuck back out etc. Way more fun. I ride with wide bars for extra leverage too.... (next debate)
I am on 44-19 at the moment it's a enjoyable steady gear for around town, gets a bit spinny/bouncy if I go flat out though

yea but its good training for the rolla's / track

That would explain why I can't skid on that lo-pro.
I don't want to rely on a front brake only. Look what happened to Chainbreaker the last time he decided to use brake instead of skidding.
I think BrainScraper prefers to use inclines to slow down (followed by air, then high friction tarmac).

Hmmm, I'm quite supprised at the amount of people against skidding here.
I wouldn't want to use it as my main way of stopping, but in a 45min journey to work I like to do 2-3 skids for shits and gigles (was mucho fun in the rain this morning).I used to skateboard for about 15 years so I don't think my knees stand much of a chance!
Guess I'll have to consider the knee impact vs fun ratio. -

Totally agree, I run 62GI which is pretty much what you have there. Slowing down is much easier, accelerating is easier and it also works well for me off road.
The big drawback is top speed as I can only manage around 30mph now. Luckily there are not any long big hills where I am otherwise it may be a bit of a chore.
The other drawback would be if you were actually fit and rode at average speeds of 20mph+ as it may be a bit too spinny for that. I

just don't give up Monsta , your body will find its way to stop the bike . same happened to me when started ride brakeless a year ago . now my set up is 47/17 with toe cages and double straps , honestly able to stop at almost any speed and situation , say I have a coster brake . the key point for me was to learn to unweight the rear wheel with a slight hop in the beginning of the skid and make a whip to the side . for extra clue watching some fixed gear movies will help as well .

You're too young to understand, Zed.
also, skidding will also fuck your back up.
Is this what your quack told you? He iz a liarz.
Yes, because a stripe of filth up the back of your jacket is soooooo cool.
