Gear ratio effect on stopping/skidding

i'm still sticking with the point that its WAY more fun to ride with a low gear ratio. try it. you wont go back.

I've gone from 47 -18, 48-19, 47-20, 46-19 and i'm now happy with 44-19. Faster off the line, easier to slow down, skid, chuck back out etc. Way more fun. I ride with wide bars for extra leverage too.... (next debate)

Totally agree, I run 62GI which is pretty much what you have there. Slowing down is much easier, accelerating is easier and it also works well for me off road.

The big drawback is top speed as I can only manage around 30mph now. Luckily there are not any long big hills where I am otherwise it may be a bit of a chore.

The other drawback would be if you were actually fit and rode at average speeds of 20mph+ as it may be a bit too spinny for that. I
