  • we will be down at the court by 12 if you want to play in the tourney be down by 12:45 and could whoever is playin can you list your teams and any ideas on the best format for the tourney

riders of narm: it might just be me i may need 2 subs if anyone one is up 4 it

  • i'll still join a team for this

  • So this is Sunday right?
    A List you say

    1. Wicksie's Warriors (not our real name)
  • I hadn't seen this thread ...but yeah, I'm in for Sunday.

Is it like some sort of exhibition tournament as well as some coaching? If so, I'll need a team. Me + Dave + 1?

  • Also.... for anyone who thinks Penge is too far to go, the new East London Line goes there directly from Dalston. (via Brockley!)

    How exciting!

  • i'm up for this.

  • I'm planning on coming down. Penge is miles away.

  • Trains from London Bridge to Penge in just under 20 mins also. Penge is closer than you think (T-shirt slogan?)
Perhaps you could give us some clarity on what's actually happening here JP? I don't think people know that there are prizes, free beer and it's for the kids. All good.
So do we have the 5 teams we need?

    1. Wicksies Team
    2. Hops Team
  • and it's for the kids.

This could be good for the LHBPA... another tick in the helping kids/ communties box? May help in the future when asking for council support etc?

Oxford held a "hardcourt meets grass" polo exhibition tournament last year. 5 teams were invited, and each team played all other teams once. So in total 10 proper games were played.

In between these games, there were a few public sessions where a mix of experienced players and total novices played together. Seemed to work really well and loads of people got involved.

  • No easties coming?

As Hops says, you can jump on the new east london line at dalston/shoreditch/wherever and get the train direct to penge

  • anyone want to meet at the train? i'll be going down, and i'll join a team sunday if someone needs a sub

I think Rik & Emilie put their names down.

Malice & a few others will be in Lille.

  • 'I don't think people know that there are prizes, free beer and it's for the kids.'

Hopefully for the community at large. Hoping for a good turnout to watch and maybe take part. The notion of riding and coordinating a mallet has a few wondering.

Beer will be in the Bridge Tavern which you'll find next to Penge west stn A few quid will be behind the bar courtesy of SE20 CYCLES. Prizes only for winning team (I was told not to spoil you) see you tomorrow.

  • Anyone else coming down?

  • What a brilliant day. I can't believe so many people who had never played before got involved and actually played the tournament.

My first visit to Penge and I think it was fantastic. The people, the court, the weather, the pub afterwards... It was a real local feel & Winston is one of the nicest guys in the universe!

  • +1. Great day.
I think we may have a few regulars out of it. Those kids have a lot of talent.

  • was away ths weekend otherwise would have come down. sounds like it was good.

  • Winning team...

  • A big big thanks to all of you who came down yesterday. The guys absolutely loved it. A few people also kicking themselves for not giving it a go. They hoped it would have been a smaller affair with fewer people so that they might have had a crack at it.

Wicksie - def got a few talented kids who want to come to peckham during the week.

  • Awesome.

Sorry that I couldn't have been there.

  • Great news Winnie. Send them here
