• normally 8 speed is used for the strength of the chain on a tandem- 10 speed is lots weaker with its narrow width.

    Again its strength and weight for wheels too- I have seen HED trispokes used, as well as disks on the back.

    I'd have to say you'll probaly have lots of fun, but the bottom line may be that the frame isn't a racing one, and could suffer flex/whip etc that a one built for racing would be designed for specifically to minimise- there is a stronger design with extra tubing around the frame in parallel with the down tube.

    My tip for what its worth, is to rummage through SJS web site- they are experts in tandems after all, maybe worth a chat there.

    There's a CTC tandem section worthy of a look- you may be able to sell some of the discarded kit there too.
