I suspect they really mean:
5 points per ride, plus 1 point for every 10 complete miles in the ride, plus an extra 1 point for rides longer than 10 miles.
But either way, it looks like lots of short rides is the way to win points most efficiently.
I was reading it as per mile based on monthly totals. i.e. 5pt per mile for your first ten that you log, then 2pt per mile for the next 10 and 1pt any mile thereafter. Per trip sounds way too open to abuse. On the ride to Southend we stopped at 2 pubs a garage and a newsagents, so I could claim it was not 60 miles but 5 lots of 12.
