  • Who wins? You or LFGSS?

It'd be good if we did win - and we would by sheer weight of numbers - that any 'winnings' went to support the server.

  • Out of 16000 apparent users there are 4 people signed up. Haha.

  • I'd be up for that have I got to cycle in London? Leicester starts with an L so I have 80 miles in the legs already this week... in Leicester??

  • How do they know you are telling the truth?

I was thinking this as well... I guess they might ask select individuals to show routes/route data... just thoughts
plus if you're a heffer and you've notched up 700+ miles they might question you a little more closely for example

  • I'm a heffer what's wrong with 700 miles....i

  • oh in a month

  • BSkyB and other organisations will be hard to beat, even for the forum. If a close race is apparent, opponents will do more. Go for it! Needs loads of people signing up, and it would of course be nice if there was no cheating.

  • Just signed up. I ride between 150 and 250 during the week then sometimes more at weekends.

Does it have to be just in London?

  • I'm in looked at doing this at work but there are only about 6 people who cycle.

Prob do about 100-120 a week.

  • In, hopefully I will remember - doing some long rides this month too.

  • Dont do it at work do it on here.

  • I joined for fun :)

  • signed up...
also i think my school has its own private skyride in june, so BSkyB will probably get meters down then.
    more forum rides

You supposed to live in london, but you can count any miles you bike anywhere.

  • I'm in - do at least 10 miles a day, plus whatever the weekends hold.

  • I'm a heffer what's wrong with 700 miles....i

nothing's wrong with doing 700 miles in a month if you're a little larger... It's a lot of miles for your average joe so they might question it.. it's just a finger in the ear idea.

  • if we win... who gets the leisure thing and monies
    forum donation surely???

  • I'm going to do it with work, someone said we can get money to improve the cycle facilities here.

Awesome. I'm off down to see family in Devon next week on hols with my bike.

  • I'm in.

Not sure about the prizes, leisure experience could mean anything, a hamper sounds good tho, how about we rein it in a bit next month and aim for 3rd?

  • How it works
The Cycle Challenge is a competition to see which team can cycle the most miles in a month. Teams that come top win great prizes.

You'll get points for the miles you cycle with extra points for your first miles.

    0 – 10 miles = 5 points
    11 -20 miles = 2 points
    20 + miles = 1 point

    I suspect they really mean:
5 points per ride, plus 1 point for every 10 complete miles in the ride, plus an extra 1 point for rides longer than 10 miles.

But either way, it looks like lots of short rides is the way to win points most efficiently.

  • Does it actually say anything about how many rides you can do in a day/is it total daily miles?

If not, then a pub crawl on bikes needs to be organized!

I was reading it as per mile based on monthly totals. i.e. 5pt per mile for your first ten that you log, then 2pt per mile for the next 10 and 1pt any mile thereafter. Per trip sounds way too open to abuse. On the ride to Southend we stopped at 2 pubs a garage and a newsagents, so I could claim it was not 60 miles but 5 lots of 12.

I have a sneaking suspicion that's the points for the month total.. so it ends up being all about the mileage

ie you ride 15 miles to work 50 + 10 points... on the way home you get 10 + 10 points and then 30 points a day from then on

    I think.

  • They are trying to encorage people to see that short rides (ie to work, to the shops) are a good alterative to pubilc transport, cars ect.
