Apologies for the thread hijack, but I'm doing a 10 day tour of the Alps in a few weeks and want to take a point and shoot with me in a jersey pocket. The weather is quite changeable, as is my body heat so I've been looking at some waterproof digi cameras. They look a bit heavy and fiddly, and I'm not sure of the picture quality.
Does anyone ride with p&s digi camera and if so, do they normally survive in a ziplock bag without condensation etc?

Jessups were showing me a good waterproof camera when I got my Sureshot SX10- good, neat, small.
Google is an answer.
I've not had a water prob with cameras in eg Poundshop plastic hard-ish cases with smaller cheaper x3 optical zoom cameras

I've got a Pentax W60, image quality is good for a cheap(ish) compact and its survived being battered, submerged in salt/fresh water for hours, sand, dirt, etc. So far, I'm very impressed with it.

Sorry, should have said that I have googled, but wanted other cyclists user experience.
I was looking at the W80 as an option but have read mixed reviews. Am erring towards getting something light and compact and whacking it in a heavy dutyish ziplock bag that I keep my phone cashcard and keys in when I'm riding. My only worry is condensation...

For ages I've put my mobile in a sealed plastic bag in my back pocket in my racing top and its been fine, I did go through 5 mobiles (under warranty) before then....

Hi Guys
I want to start making some short films but I'm a bit stuck with what camera to buy.
Any ideas on a good camera or shop that will be able to give me some guidance.
Ideally i want HD and something that can be hooked up to my mac with minimal fuss so that i can edit the footage with i movie.Cannon 550D, seems to be really good for shooting HD footage, and bonus you can use it to take normal images too

I have this camera too and it does take a beating, had it out in surf etc, but I do find that it takes blimmin' ages to "auto"focus (2-3 seconds) which makes taking 'action' shots (on the move/of moving objects) pretty tricky.
Not sure how this compares to other cameras though as I've not really used anything else...

+1.
We have a communal one of these which gets passed around the family. It has been, Snowboarding, skiing, MTBing, Kayak touring (sea) and river, and also down the Zambezi on a raft. It has been dropped overboard and well below its recommended depth, it is still going strong.

Have you found it a pain with the shutter lag though?

Yes. However My dad (supplier of all things communal) has bought the finepix Z33 and it is not as bad, or so he thinks.
