In a previous life, I used to write wills for a living (the family business, but I decided not to carry it on).
I have seen some horrible situations arise from people who didn't write their wills. Situations where people like me became major beneficiaries of someone's estate, because we had to be paid to work it out.
Best to choose a will writer, they generally work out as far better value than solicitors, and they won't try to sell you other things. Beware of any organisation that stores something like legal documents, house deeds for free; what's in it for them?
