  • Still double posting mate? Oddness!

  • Nice work on the flyer mock-up, be good to lose the colour and go short 'n sweet for stickers. If there's costs involved I'll chip in.

re: insurance... Do the "critical mass" events in London / MCR / Birmingham / Worldwide have insurance?

  • Had this back from Ride the Planet -

    Hi Steve,

My name is Richard, Im coordinating all of the Rides in the UK.

    Thats wonderful news,

If you can email me when you have a plan for the ride then we can put it on our website and facebook group to help promote it.

Please email me if you have any questions.

Great to have you with us.

    Richard

Did one of you say you had a route worked out? Might be cool to take in the odd coventry cycle heritage place if possible (no idea where they might be of course!)

  • I'll put some £ towards the stickers if needed.

No input from me on the route as I don't know Coventry well enough.

  • Also had a reply from Kim:

    Dear Steve,

Thanks for your email and your participation. I have forwarded on your details to Richard Kimberley who is cycling with me and coordinating the UK Rides.

I am creating a Ride Coventry (UK) page on the Ride Planet Earth website and an event on facebook. If you are on facebook go to the event, it will be named as above, and attend, then let me know and I wil make you admin so you can make changes etc.

I look forward to hearing more about your event.

    Cheers,

    Kim

  • A route would be fairly easy to sort. We could easily swing by some of the old factory sites too (head out via Gosford Street for the first one) but there's not many of the actual buildings left at all really.

  • Awesome news on the ride guys, can you post a link to the group?

  • on facebook that is..

  • Event has been created by Kim from Ride Planet Earth here:

    http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=316725615724&index=1

    Hope that works :)

  • Facebook is blocked for me as I access the internet through our corporate gateway/proxy. If anything comes up there of interest please report back. Thanks.

  • Cheers mate, it does, I joined and I added you on face the book too.

I'll mock up some B&W flyers with all the details on sometime this week, see if I can stick them in RIDE and the local bike shops around Nuneaton (as I work there).

    Think you can handle Cov?

You also got a decent idea of where we're going? or has that already been organised..?

  • I guess around the city centre and maybe Far Gosford Street, as rhb suggests. Anyone want to meet up on Sunday if the weather's good and cruise about to suss out some sort of route? Would be good to meet up before the 6th :)

Edit: I'm probably going to this in the eve on Sunday too if you want to make an afternoon of it ;)

  • I can put some flyers up in my LBS (Albany Cycles) and try and get some around University of Warwick campus. I can print them out here too :)

  • I'm up for a ride this sunday pending weather / hangover.. haha

  • I can flyer Cov Cycle Centre, and maybe some of the recycling projects.

    http://rideplanetearth.org/?page_id=797 someone can't spell.

Not about this sunday (might be back in the early eve depending on trains etc), but'd be up for scouting routes on 29th if anyone is about. Also, not really training right now so if anyone wants company on a weekday evening ride around the city drop me a line.

  • example of sort of thinkings I'm having around a route. Would play it by ear on the day and maybe cut some of the silly short detours out:

Could (should!) always end up at a pub!

Just a thought, if it's wider advertised and a few more riders turn up it can't really be a mad blast - more crit mass style, with a leader, outriders "corking" and "sweepers" to encourage the group to stay together. Still be ace though, esp if we can get folks to bring whistles etc to make some noise...

Will post to see if any of the brum lot fancy it.

  • I might be able to make a weekday evening ride, depends on workload. Not sure if I will be able to get out this Sunday but 29th is open.

  • I can do a week day too, weather dependent :)

  • i can do friday's or weekdays after 5pm :)

  • nice one, assuming Mon and Fri will be awkward any preferences out of the other three..? note I can't do owt next week.

  • No preference for me, as long as I have a few days notice. Social life is pretty much seat of the pants arranged on the day so if I know a day or two in advance then shouldn't be an issue :)

  • as for the pub we end up in, spires? as it's mainly outside..?

  • it's all gone quiet in here..

  • Hmn, I posted in here and it seems to have disappeared :( Any news on the flyers?

Also, weather this eve might be good for a ride about, or tomorrow even?

  • I'm busy for the next couple of evenings but Thursday is looking ok, and this weekend I am free on Sunday.
