Yes dibs please, budget conversion for the Raleigh. Is Hilary Stone hard to get hold of? That's the feeling I get.
Hi everyone,
I’ve just sorted out another lot of interesting and bargain frames. Shipping on frames within the UK will be £11 - other items can ship free of charge in the same box. I can ship anywhere in the world at a reasonable cost.
ALL ITEMS ARE IN BRISTOL
** I will be at the LFGSS Herne Hill Track day on the 30th May and can deliver items there...**
Payment can be via bank transfer (preferred), cheque or the dreaded Paypal which costs me 3%…
** If you dib an item, please PM me and pay the same day unless you make other arrangements with me. **
Viewing/Personal collection is welcome as quite a few have found and have been able to get other parts they are looking for at the same time.
Hilary Stone
NELSON TRACK FRAME 1985 Close clearances
Seat Tube (ctt) : 21in (53cm)
Top Tube (ctc): 21in (53cm)
Rear dropout width: 120mm
Wheel size: 700C (Brake drop 42mm)
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
Bottom Bracket Threads: English
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Nelson frames are one of the few examples of frames built in Wales - Crickhowell, in Powys. This gorgeous track frame comes complete with copies of the original build sheet from 1985. It has 74° parallel head and seat tube angles and 1in of fork offset. Clearances are very tight - in the picture of the frame on wheels the rear wheel is not at the forward end of the dropout slot... The front fork is drilled for a front brake. The paint is excellent condition with just a few small marks and both the Campag headset and bottom bracket are in excellent condition.
£275 with headset and BB or £225 without headset or BB. SOLD
BRIAN ROURKE ROAD FRAME c1996
Seat Tube (ctt): 20.5in (52cm)
Top Tube (ctc): 20.75in (52.5cm)
Rear dropout width: 130mm
Wheel size: 700C
Brake drop with 700C/Sprint wheel: 42mm
Frame Tubing: Reynolds 531C
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Brian Rourke framesets were and some I believe are still produced in their own workshop by Paul Washington - this frame features his very distinctive and special wrap over seat stays. And has hardly been used - the kit that was taken off looked as if it had not done 100 miles... The paint is truly excellent with just a couple of small chips. This frame I think dates from the middle/late 1990s. I was very impressed by Paul Washington’s workshop when I visited about 12 years ago and his frames are really rather special. £185
HOLDSWORTH SPECIAL ROAD FRAME 1980s
Seat Tube (ctc): 21in (53cm)
Top Tube (ctc): 21.75in (55.5cm)
Rear dropout width: 125mm
Wheel size: Sprints or 700C with a brake drop of 48mm
Frame Tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
Seatpost size 27.2mm
This is a very nice Holdsworth frame from the 1980s which is in very sound condition - the paint is very useable but has quite a number of marks. This will make an excellent commuter of easy fixed/singlespeed conversion. £85 SOLD
REVELL Fancy lugs 1987
Seat Tube (ctc) : 59cm (23.5in)
Top Tube (ctc): 57cm (22.5in)
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: Sprints or 700C (brake drop of approx 45mm)
Bottom bracket threads: British
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Frame tubing Reynolds 531C
Revell was one of the brand names used by Beta Bikes in West Hampstead in the 1980s (now the Freewheel Shop). This frame with its fancy Swallow tail lugs with bisected ends is extremely attractive and unusual - it features in one of the Freewheel catalogues from the mid 1980s. I do not know who built these frames for Beta Bikes but it is nicely crafted and unusual frame. And with horizontal dropouts could easily be converted to singlespeed or fixed. £145
1990s TOURING FRAME
Seat Tube (ctt): 22.5in (57cm)
Top Tube (ctc): 22.25in (56.5cm)
Rear dropout width: 130mm
Wheel size: 700C
Seatpost size 27.2mm
Frame Tubing; Probably Reynolds 531
This is is a very nice touring frame which is thought it might be a Dawes Super Galaxy from the early 1990s - it has a full complement of touring braze-ons - for cantilever brakes and racks front and rear. It is in very sound condition and could be built up ridden very easily. £75
CARPENTER ROAD FRAME 1949 Fancy Lugs
Seat Tube (ctt): 58cm (23in)
Top Tube (ctc): 56.5cm (22.25in)
Rear dropout width: 120mm
Wheel size: 27s or Sprints/700C (brake drop 62mm)
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Carpenter frames were built in relatively small numbers in Islington (pre-war) and afterwards in Kingston-Upon-Thames - they enjoyed an enviable reputation. More details on Carpenters can be found at http://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/builders/carpenter.html This frame has fancy lugs which are not exspecially common on Carpenters and a lovely faux two plate fork crown with round fork blades. The rear seatstay bridge has been replaced at some time. The headset is not included - it was found to have a fault. £195
RALEIGH ROAD FRAME Reynolds 501 tubing
Seat Tube (ctt): 58cm (23in)
Top Tube (ctc): 56cm (22in)
Rear dropout width: 120mm
Wheel size: Sprints/700C (brake drop 52mm)
Seatpost size: 27.0mm
Frame tubing: Reynolds 501
This Raleigh road frame dating from 1983 is built from Reynolds 501 tubing. The frame is in very sound and useable condition. The fork is not original. It will make an ideal budget conversion. £39 SOLD
RON COOPER ROAD FRAME Columbus Minimax tubing
Seat Tube (ctt): 21.5in (55cm)
Top Tube (ctc): 21.25in (54cm)
Rear dropout width: 130mm
Wheel size: 700C (brake drop 45mm)
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Frame tubing: Columbus Minimax
This frame is manufactured from the very rare and desirable Columbus Minimax tubing - the tubing is shaped just like its more common brother, Columbus Max with ovalised ends to both the top and down tubes and an ovalised end to the BB end of the seat tube but in smaller dimensions. This is ideal for smaller frames where Columbus Max is overkill and provides a harsh ride - Minimax provides a still responsive frame combined with a better ride... This frame was originally one of Ron Cooper’s 25th Anniversary frames and dates from around 1992... It has been beautifully repainted by Argos in flam silver and has not been built up since. Ron Cooper’s fillet brazing is is just gorgeous.… £245 SOLD
FLANDRIA ROAD FRAME c1983
Seat Tube (ctc) : 54cm (21.25in)
Top Tube (ctc): 55cm (21.5in)
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: Sprints or 700C front and rear (brake drop of approx 55mm)
Bottom bracket threads: British
Frame Tubing: Ishiwata 022
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
This is a really rather nicely made Flandria road frame from the early 1980s I think which has been repainted with decals from a Belgian cycle shop. The paint is quite reasonable but the chrome on the fork is in very poor condition. However this could easily be painted. It would make a very good conversion. £59 SOLD
