  • missing just one part of my body with the sun lotion, then riding for 3 hours = FAIL, I'm stinging a little

Chick or jey roadie lycra shaver boy?

  • Chick or jey roadie lycra shaver boy?

    Juvenile...

  • gay roadie shaver boy

  • I was genuinely inquisitive, i never know whether shaving is socially accepted within the fixed scene.
Was riding with some people recently and noticed they all had pretty hairless legs but it's not the kind of thing you like to bring up IRL.

  • well I hang with the road crew more than the fixie crew so I don't really know if its acceptable, I like it because when i'm on my fixed, people (other cyclists) can see that I am a real cyclist and not just someone who bought a Fixie™ for fashion, girls and skidz

  • shaves legs to become a real cyclist

  • well every little helps

  • shaves legs to become a real cyclist

Or an advanced nodder. That's why I don't do it (but I used to to be honest)

  • Or what if you're chinese, and naturally not very hairy?

Yeah, isn't shaving your legs to look like a 'real cyclist' just as bad as buying 'a Fixie™ for fashion, girls and skidz'?

  • point, but It is slightly easier to apply aftersun lotion so i'll cling onto that fact as my excuse, but I fully accept the fact that leg shaving in the road community has no real purpose other than to "fit in"

  • Or what if you're chinese, and naturally not very hairy?

Im very hairy down to where normal sports socks come to and from there down im completely hairless apart from a small patch on the front of my leg just where shoes come to.

I thought it was a mix of aerodynamics and making cuts/roadrash easier to clean.

I wonder if it bothers roadies when they get passed by someone with unshaven legs.

  • I hate the fact than my lycra 3/4 shorts look like they were made of a kiwi fruit's skin.
Those bloody hair poking out right through.

  • making cuts/roadrash easier to clean.

I wouldn't have thought some leg hair would make it that difficult, i'm probably horridly wrong

  • the aerodynamics thing is bull, unless your a triathlete in which case shaving does reduce drag in the water by as much as 10%, and the cleaning thing is also bull it makes little to no difference, we do it because everyone else does and that's how the roadie thing works.

    for more information ask bikefag

  • Google says it's for cleaning, washing general dirt off as well as cleaning roadrash and because massaging hairylegs in messy and painful for masseuse and massagee.

  • Started new thread if anyone wants to discuss it:
    https://www.lfgss.com/thread43921.html#post1420017

  • ^ good idea,
    what thread is this again?

  • I wouldn't have thought some leg hair would make it that difficult, i'm probably horridly wrong

I was actually going to get mine waxed over Easter (it was a dare, don't ask). But I had a pretty nasty spill which opened up my knee which meant I couldn't really get it done as i'd have to leave the knee hairy. Kinda wish I had've got it done beforehand as the feeling of hairs itching underneath scabs is not nice.

  • Shut up, Mick. Use the new thread, where people can do search for "shaved legs" and find your post about waxing in the future.

  • Shaving and waxing are completely different things dude.

Each should have its own thread, and another thread to debate about the comparision between the two. And another for two forum folks to make silly digs at each other.

  • It's all gone pear shaped then? :-)
I seriously thought it would be nice to explain some myths in a separate topic.

  • ^ a day later and no-one has asked about the bike fail

    nyquil - how's the bike?

    ;)

p.s. hope you heal up quick...
