Looks like 14% duty and 17.5% VAT on the price including shipping
(1049.35 x 1.14 x 1.175) - 1049.35 = $356.25 to pay, plus post office fee, plus credit card foreign exchange cost. Might just squeak under £1000 total. You must love her very much :-)
