Deeper rimmed wheels are stiffer. The shorter the spokes, the less the wheel will 'soak up' the vibration.

Never, ever, ever thought i'd say this.
But...
Max is right.

Yep, I cringe when riding Shamals and I run out of smooth tarmac. But they look good.

By the way, what size tyres do you run, Raff?

get used to it lynx.
if they are high pressure tubulars that also makes a bit of a difference depending on the tyre your using -

I roll on 21 and 19 tubs. Trust me, it's rough.
My winter bike has regular boxed touring rims and 25mm Contis and it makes a whole lot of difference.

If the rims are sitting in the back of your van, unbuilt, you're unlikely to feel any difference at all, are you? Go out, ride a bike, figure out what you like and what you don't like, don't ask stupid questions, utfs, etc...

They are not in the van. They are on the back of my MPV... Oh, wait. It's not directed at me.

I think we should have a forum vote-off.
This is where we could vote off someone due to their lack of understanding of the forum, and replace them with someone who is already banned.
Bring back Paul-Michel/Furtwangler, and let's get shot of this c*unting muppet. (Not you eastend.)
To be honest, I'd rather have to deal with Torpid Construct, OOL or Paul-Michel, rather than regularly find deeply dismal posts from a certain someone. Also, why this person feels the need to post any old shit, and create a brand new effing thread for it, is beyond me. I will have to talk to Jesus about this matter.
The dimwitted moron can't even see the tactical use of entering a new post in an older but related thread. Witness how coppiThat created extra mileage in a rather below-the-radar post of mine, where I pondered to whence Google had flown.
I'm feeling like being a narcky c*nt at the moment, and I'm hoping someone will take a nibble.

...you want to get rid of the people who don't know anything about bikes?
Correct me if i'm wrong here, but surely one of the main reasons for coming on this forum was to learn more about their bike. I know that was my reason.
Out of interest, what was your reason for joining this forum?

It's a real shame when people who know a lot about bikes, know little about forums.

Bang!.....as in aiming for the pigeon, but missing and shooting a rare albatross instead.
I had said...due to their lack of understanding of the forum.
What I had not said was, their lack of understanding about bikes.
Paul-Michel always asked interminable questions about bikes, and they annoyed and delighted/amused us in equal measure. There's nothing wrong in learning about bikes, but there IS something wrong when someone feels that their every post and idea are so special, that they need an airing in their own thread.....even if there are a multitude of threads on the matter.
I dredge up old threads and use them, and so does just about everybody else. Its an understanding of the forum that is being ignored.....by one very special person.
EDIT: I called Jesus, but the line was engaged. F*cking BT.

When I joined the forum I didn't have a clue about it either.
I don't see why people are so uptight on this forum when you can relax, enjoy the weather and go for a nice ride instead.

If you wish to celebrate that you cannot read very clearly, than that is as good a reason as any to have a night in on your own. What a change that must be.

psi is probably way too high.
decent formula:
*Tire Width=20: Pressure(psi) = (0.33 * Rider Weight in lbs) + 63.33
Tire Width=23: Pressure(psi) = (0.33 * Rider Weight in lbs) + 53.33
Tire Width=25: Pressure(psi) = (0.33 * Rider Weight in lbs) + 43.33
Tire Width=28: Pressure(psi) = (0.33 * Rider Weight in lbs) + 33.33Tire Width=32: Pressure(psi) = (0.17 * Rider Weight in lbs) + 41.67
Tire Width=37: Pressure(psi) = (0.17 * Rider Weight in lbs) + 26.67* -

Yes, but thats just the point. You cannot perpetually remain the newbie. How long can you join? Joining is immediate, and there is a period of learning about the forum. I suggest at this rate, the special person who I speak of, will still be new-to-the-forum after a f*cking decade. He's already been here 2/3rds of a year hasn't he? How long does it take to learn that there could be other threads on any given topic, and its only polite to look for a similar thread and take part.
I've recently changed the rims on my bike from normal rims (mavic MA3) to vuelta carbon fibre deep v rimmed rims. I've noticed that the bike seems to feel every bump on the road, this gives me the feeling whilst riding that I have a flat tyre.
Is this a common effect of deep v rims?
The rims are laced in a similar manner and the v ones have less spokes.
