• I just bought Pinhead Duo wheel locking system. When it got delivered it seemed useless for a bigger axle nut/wheel skewer! Unless I change it, which a the Cycle Surgery guy suggested not to; atleast for the rear wheel.
I use 2 D/U locks (both abus, 1 for each wheel and frame) plus the bike is insured.
Any advice? Use it? Not use it?

  • sell it and get another lock, not abus. (most lockpick thieves carry one set of lockpics for one brand of lock) maybe someone will buy pinhead in classified for £30/£20 notes..

  • Amey - try getting some security bolts. I think you can get ones that are 5 sided and need a special tool that a theif is unlikely to have.

If you use these on your front wheel and use 1 D-lock on your rear wheel and frame, you won't have to lug 2 locks around with you.

In addition, bike insurance does not require 2 locks, just a lock of a particular security rating.

What locks do you have at the mo'?

I'd advise getting a Kryptonite New York d-lock and have this as your sole lock.

  • i have abus varedo and abus sinus, varedo is approved by the insurance, i guess i will sell the pinhead on forum ;)
can u tell me more abt the nut for the rear wheel? oh yeah plus it has data tag amd is on immobilize :p paranoid? oh yeas
