with severe trouble . . . try getting a flat headed screw driver in your stem with a piece of paper over it (to reduce marking) and then push it in quite far, basically open it up as much as possible and then try and slot the bars and shim in at the same time?

how do i get the fuckers in?
Use it with a stem that can be completely opened.
Sorry for the (too) simple answer. -

Looked around and can't see ought on Chain Reaction or Evans. Brixton say no. Rather not get it shipped from ebay.
(Nitto=>over-sized bars)

In silver. Condor do not have them. I can get them on ebay but I'd rather buy in person if someone is stocking them.

Be careful with the eBay ones, bought one and it was useless. Having the same problem, any help much appreciated.

nah, Barça all the way!

that other thread was for the much commoner 26 to 31.8mm shim, they are all over the place. The 31.8 to 26mm anti-shim is much harder to come by, like i said, still looking...

Ebay. My issue has been postage fees are off key. cheap shims but $40 shipping from the states?!? Some of the UK prices if I remember were a little odd. When I raised the issue they didn't give satisfactory answers (I hate being blatantly ripped off) so I'm reluctant to give em my ca$h. The dimensions you want (25.4mm) are covered in ebay TBHif you don't mind the color you're in.

ive got a cinelli stem and tried to put some risers in them and there flopping about left right and centre, tried the coke can trick but its just down right dangerous de to it slipping, could anyone tell me the size of a cinelli stem and mtb bars so i could order some shims, is it 25.6- 26.0 shim i need?
cheers,

coke can carefully cut to size.. job done

jesus, tell us what stem it is, ya know cinelli made a lot.....
riser bars are mostly 25.4mm (some 22.2, but not that common), cinelli stem will be 26.0mm or 31.8mm probably, so just measure how big the hole is, there is a large difference between 31.8mm and 26.0mm that should be obvious. or read the stem. it may say on it. or tell us what stem it is.

Don't cinelli also do a 26.4mm stem? if i remember correctly.
-

not any more, it would have to be 10+ years old.

And?
pretty standard for people to be running quill stems on here. Furthermore unless he has an OS a-head stem then the chances are he is using a quill, as a 26.0 ahead stem will take a 25.4 riser. I'd guess the dude has a 26.0 or 26.4 quill. In which case coke can works, or you can spenda lots of dorra on a nitto shim.Cinelli made / makes 25.4, 26.0 and 26.4 as well as modern oversize.

I like my 25.4 risers, and I like my new over-sized Cinelli stem. So the question of a 6mm handlebar shim arises:
coke can: ridiculous - not happening.
ready-made shim: potentially unsafe?
recently suggested: old mountain bike tyre. Tempted but wavering between it being ingenious/crazyAny thoughts or experience on this topic? Have come across a variety of opinions ranging from don't-it's-unsafe to the hand-making-wanking-motion-just-do-it-you-gaylord.
"Find a stem/risers that fit blah blah" but other than clamp size the combination really improves riding position....

Hi,
I've got a cinelli xa stem which I think has a clamp size of 26.4mm. Does anyone know of any shims to allow the use of a 25.4mm riser bar with it? They don't seem to have a standard clamp size. Cheers.
