Hi all – I’ve pasted in parts of a letter Rev. Bruce emailed to the CCC. We are a small bunch of riders who (living in Sawston) go out on a Saturday morning, for a very casual ride – no more than 25 miles at the pace of the slowest - sometimes only 15 miles. But we always wait for the tail end to catch up.
Last year we decided (as we all like to ride bikes) then we would try and do something for others and came up with this.
PM me directly or email Bruce with any questions

I (Bruce) organised with a few other enthusiasts, around the Duxford/Elmdon/Littlebury Green/ Hinxton circuit to raise funds for Jimmy's Night Shelter.
It is a precisely 15 mile Circuit, and the intention is for riders to gain sponsors for the number of miles they do, the proceeds to go to the Night Shelter. Last year I managed to knock off a hundred miles from 8am to about 3.30 in the afternoon. We had about a dozen riders. Some just did two circuits, others 60miles. It's a lovely country to cycle through with some very pleasant, gentle hill climbs and great views. Some nice pubs on the route for those who want to stop for a break on the way.
I am planning to hold the ride on the third Saturday in September, the 18th. I am expecting that riding will begin at Duxford at 8am and continue until about 5pm, if there are still cyclists whizzing around the circuit at that time.
If anyone is interested in participating, I will send out sponsorship forms in this venture for Jimmy's Night Shelter. We will have people on hand to tour the circuit for any difficulties and all cyclists will have a mobile number to ring for first aiders in case of accidents or for help with breakdowns. We will, as last year, do a full risk assessment before the ride and have the ride well signed so novices don't get lost.
Please do contact me on the email address bruce.waldron@uwclub.net if you would like more details
Yours truly
