• Hi Guys

I've had my bike stolen on Friday night on De Beauvoir Rd where two guys kicked me off my bike and took it. So I will recommend that people do not cycle up this road alone at night.

It's a "Rapide" frame, it's singlespeed freewheel, has brooks saddle and handlebar tape.

If anyone sees it or can help with finding it I would be super happy!

  • Harsh!, sorry to hear that.

  • So I should post it there instead?

  • post it there as well - as it's viewed more often

  • Really bad.

I think this deserves it's own thread. There have been a few other instances of youths trying to impede cyclists, but this is the first 'bike jacking' I've heard of.

  • Sorry to hear this. My friend got 'mugged' of his bike getting the keys out to go into his flat in pitfield street. Two hoodies, there was a bit of a tug of war until one of them pulled out a knife. Then to rub salt into the wound, they called him a punk!

  • Snap! Myself and my mate got hopped while cycling recently by a group of young 'uns a few weeks ago. I managed to hold onto my bike but he had his taken - not fun!

  • Descriptions of the thieves would be useful.

  • Did you went to the police straight away?

  • Sorry to hear that mate.
Fucking scum bags. I often got chased home on my bike by these little scrotes when I lived on Mortimer Road. Whole area is infested with £5 gangsters.

  • shit this is near my house. there are loads of hoodies around

  • how can it heppened....

  • Oh Todd I sent description as a comment, didn't realise that it was about you and not the comment. Sorry!

So anyway, 2 white males 20-22, both slim to average build, one was 180cm had short brown, slightly spikey hair, looked and sounded british, the other was slightly shorter ~175cm, was wearing a hoodie so a bit harder to tell, but i think he had longer blond and slightly curly/wavy hair.

Edscolbe, yes a taxi drove by 2-3 min later and I got him to call and the police was there within minutes.

Risk112, it was a dark road and one guy steps onto the road, I tried to avoid him and ended up in the otherside of the road where the other guy stepped out from behind a car and kicked my bike. I fell over and before I knew it they were over me screaming for my valuables.

Thanx for the support guys! Let me know if you see anything!

  • Shocking. I'm new to this lark, but this is also in my neck of the woods - it's enough to make me wonder if riding round here is actually worth it.

Good luck getting the bike back Silvester. If it's any consolation, I once chased a load of hoodies (20+) onto an estate in Holloway after they'd nicked my scooter. I think the shock of someone trying to get their stuff back freaked them out a bit, and I found the thing round a corner, up on its stand, revving like mad. Karma exists.

  • All of these streets mentioned are in Shoreditch/west of Kingsland Rd/south of Balls Pond Rd/east of Southgate Road right? Not saying it's unique to that area but seems to be a bit of an N1 pattern?

I have an N1 postcode, so not dissing anyone's endz or anything.

  • It always been like that for years, stolen in almost identical places every now and then and people appear here all surprised about it.

  • It always been like that for years, stolen in almost identical places every now and then and people appear here all surprised about it.

To be fair, if you don't read internet forums you won't know these patterns. Quite a lot of peoples' first posts here are reporting a theft etc. "I used a cable lock outside the cinema in Islington for only 3 hours" and so on.

  • Be nice Ed. Dude had his bike nicked in pretty aggressive circumstances, being mugged is not nice.

Be careful out there, people. Stick to main roads at night if you're not sure.

  • dissing any ones endz
    HA
don't we have our own gangs on here now... could ha sworn i heard talk of fixed gear gangs / possees on the drag sprints night * rolls eyes and tuts * " kidz today "
can't they just get them to go round tooled up into another gangs endz and have a war
or am i just out of touch with todays youf

  • The debeauvoir estate has a lot to live up to. Having said that, someone tried to break into my block last night (Nicer part of E9, small block of 6)....Tried to Kick the door in, didn't manage to but bust the fuck out of it. When i went down to investigate it seemed the downstairs neighbour had left his brand new trek racer locked to the internal railing and it was just too much for them to resist.. I'm thinking about booby trapping the door as this is the third time its happened.

  • He seems to have an awful lot of bikes.

  • Didn't see this thread at the time. This has just been posted elsewhere:

Thanx for the link to the article! Now we can only hope that they can track down all the bikes that has been stolen - most likely not though.
