Hi,
You send frames and forks for Portugal?
How much is shipping?Bye

its like looking at Aladin's Cave, museum, and a history lesson all rolled into one looking through the ads.
I think I have no intention of buying, but I do suffer the cyclists "dreams of yesteryear" etc........
I seriously doubt I'd be able to afford the handmade frames nowadays in the way we used to take them for granted.
I recall my first real bike - a Falcon Black Diamond costing £30 in circa 1966 - in burnt orange and black bought Rohan's Cycles in Pinner (Rayner's Lane really)
My first made to measure 531 frame was I think £25, a Pat Rohan stickered Edwards built road frame and I still miss it- lots of wins and memories, and the only one I ever bent in a road race.

That Masi is so tempting. Especially at the point of being a bargain. You're right: the yanks revere the Masis

Couldn't agree more! Certainly up there with Colnago - De Rosa - Cinelli.

Anybody buying the Knight I've got Danny Horton's engraved (not panto back then!) black Cinelli 1A stem - not sure if it came off the Knight or one of his Bantels...
-
• #24
Oh, and sorry Hilary, but the Knight rider was JOCK Kershaw (great trackie ex Holdsworth etc). JACK Kershaw, on the other hand was a great singer and author of songs like Diggy Diggy Lo and Louisiana Man ... Apologies again, just my years in ythe peleton!

ALL ITEMS ARE IN BRISTOL
Payment can be via bank transfer (preferred), cheque or the dreaded Paypal which costs me 3%…

Viewing/Personal collection is welcome as quite a few have found and have been able to get other parts they are looking for at the same time.

MASI PRESTIGE ROAD FRAME c1983
Seat Tube (ctc): 52cm
Top Tube (ctc): 53cm
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: 700C with brake drop of 45mm
Frame tubing: Columbus SL
Masi are as highly thought of in Italy and the USA as Cinelli and De Rosa - they are less well known in the UK because distribution here has been virtually non existent. This Prestige frame from the early 1980s is typical of the period with lots of care and attention to details. The paint is in very useable condition though it has quite a number of small touch-ups which could be improved upon. £265
HOLDSWORTH MONSOON c1960 Very Cool lugs
Seat Tube (ctc): 22.5in (57cm)
Top Tube (ctc): 22.25in (56.5cm)
Rear dropout width: 118mm
Wheel size: 27s, sprints or 700C with brake drop of 64mm
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
This Holdsworth Monsoon from c1960 has extremely attractive hand-cut lugs with original gold paint. The paint has some marks and is scraped on the back of the top of the seatstays but does present really nicely. The frame is perfectly sound. £135
HOLDSWORTH MONSOON c1960 Very cool lugs
Seat Tube (ctt): 24in, 61cm
Top Tube (ctc): 58cm (23in)
Rear dropout width: 118mm
Wheel size: 27s, sprints or 700C (brake drop of approx 62mm)
Bottom bracket threads: English
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
This Holdsworth Monsoon from c1960 has extremely attractive hand-cut lugs with original black paint. The paint has quite a number of marks but is nevertheless in useable condition. The frame is straight and without any dents dents or dings. A very attractive larger sized frame that would make a very easy conversion £95
HOLDSWORTH SHOP SPECIAL ROAD FRAME 1967 Nervex Pro
Seat Tube (ctt): 57cm (22.5in)
Top Tube (ctc): 57cm (22.5in)
Rear dropout width: 125mm
Wheel size: Sprints/700C (brake drop 53mm)
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
The F W Holdsworth shop in Putney not only sold the range of stock Holdsworth frames but also built special frames to order. This frame was built to order in late 1967 with Nervex Pro lugs and fork crown - it’s a very unusual combination for Holdsworth who at the time preferred the Italian style Prugnat single point lugs. Its a very attractive frame - I am not certain whether the paint is original or an older repaint which in very good condition with just some smallish marks. It will make a very easy singlespeed or fixed conversion. £125 SOLD
HOLDSWORTH RECORD ROAD FRAME 1970s
Seat Tube (ctt): 21.5in (55cm)
Top Tube (ctc): 21in (53cm)
Rear dropout width: 124mm
Seatpost size: 26.4mm
Wheel size: 27in or 700C (brake drop 67mm)
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531
The Record was one of Holdsworth’s more budget models though it was still built from Reynolds 531 main tubes - the forks were also 531. This frame is in very sound and useable condition £79 SOLD
MERLIN ROAD FRAME Late 1940s gorgeous fancy head lugs
Seat Tube (ctt) : 58cm (23in)
Top Tube (ctc): 57cm (22.5in)
Rear dropout width: 118mm
Wheel size: Sprints or 700C (brake drop of approx 55mm)
Bottom bracket threads: English
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
This is frame was built by Merlin Cycles from Finsbury in London - it has had later Merlin (Bob Jackson) decals applied. It does need a little restoration work the seatstays both have dents which will need to be filled (a very easy and cheap job) and new mudguard fixings to be fitted to the seatstays. However the basic frame appears £145
FAGGIN ROAD FRAME c1980
Seat Tube (ctc): 53cm (21in)
Top Tube (ctc): 52.5cm (21.75in)
Rear dropout width: 128mm
Wheel size: Sprints/700C (brake drop 49mm)
Seatpost size: 26.8mm
Frame Tubing: Columbus Aelle
Faggin frames were very popular in Belgium and France. This one from the 1980s is in very sound condition though the paint is a little tatty. The chrome is sound except on the left hand chainstay. This is a very attractive frame which once built up will look really rather cool. It will make a very easy conversion. £95 SOLD
MBK PRO NEW & UNUSED
Seat Tube (ctc): 54cm (56.5cm ctt)
Top Tube (ctc): 22.25in (56.5cm)
Rear dropout width: 130mm
Front Brake drop with 700C wheel: 46mm
Seatpost size: 27.0mm
Wheel size: 700C
This is a rather nice NOS MBK frame from the early 1990s built from Vitus tubing which is ovalised at the bottom bracket. The top tube takes the rear brake cable in a slot along the length of the top tube's underside – very neat and cool. The semi-vertical dropouts should mean that a fixed or single-speed conversion should not be too difficult. A bargain at £73 for a brand new an unused frame... SOLD
KNIGHT ROAD FRAME Ex-Team Wightman-Gibbsport-Knight-Galli 1979/80
Seat Tube (ctt): 54cm (21in)
Top Tube (ctc): 52.5cm (20.75in)
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: 700C (brake drop 48mm)
Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
This road frame was built for a member of the Wightman-Gibbsport-Knight-Galli Professional Team for either 1979 or 1980. It was likely that it was either Danny Horton
or Jack Kershaw who both rode frames of this size. It is unlikely it was built in Knight’s factory - my guess would be that it was built by one of the specialist framebuilders such as Tom Bromwich from the Midlands area. Its extremely nicely built and is in very sound condition. The headset either needs servicing or replacing. £83 SOLD
MOTOBECANE SPECIAL PRO ROAD FRAME c1978 Columbus SL
Seat Tube (ctc): 59cm (23.25in)
Top Tube (ctc): 59cm (23.25in)
Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: Sprints or 700C (brake drop of approx 48mm)
Frame tubing: Columbus SL
Seatpost size: 26.8mm
Motobecane frames were ridden in the 1970s to a Tour De France win and their Team was one of the top continental pro road teams. This frame, the European equivalent of the Team Pro sold in the USA is built from Columbus SL tubing and dates from around 1978. Its in absolutely gorgeous condition with only a very few very minor marks to the paint. An easy singlespeed or fixed conversion. £95 SOLD
