Maybe selling my front Ellipse going for full carbon on the px
-
• #28453
Might sell just the front quite easily as a lot of people ruin their front Ellipses by using a brake.

It is indeed, I'm just wondering if it's not going to be too harsh a ride on the road (it's not like I'm going touring with it but still).
i couldn't think of a worse bike to ride on the road. would be great on the track though.

Well, a 596 Piste would almost certainly be worse, so your imagination is a little lacking. On the other hand, it's easy to think of plenty of frames which would be much better on the road, most of them cheaper than a 464.

Define "better" and define "on the road".

Posted this in phases so might as well post it again, still needs straps (campagnolo ones with the
blue letters), other stem (this one is borrowed), c-rec headset/bb (to replace croce d'aune ones),
campagnolo 16t cog/ lockring. And the frame needs to get it's crack repaired at RIH somewhere
in the summer, but it's fine for now! Been asked to 'finish' it for this exhibition thingy in the city..http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1122/4593056454_06693f48d8_o.jpg

Ay, there's the rub. For the kind of road riding I do, and given what I want from the bike I do it on, there are plenty of better choices than a 464. It's personal though, if Lolo wants to out-sprint commutengers on fine days, the 464 might be a good choice.

Exactly. :-)

better: better than not quite as better
on the road: not on the pavement or grass -

On smooth road it would be awesome.

Lynne, I'm not driving a Mini-Metro

Bits to be ordered next week. Still not sure about what wheels I'm going to put on.
Laurent, I am very much looking forward to seeing this built up!

The bike is an old Pashley Tube Rider i rescued off a mate, which had been stripped of its parts
I love the curves on this! I was just thinking about this sort of frame the other day after seeing something in the bike porn which had the top but not bottom curve, didnt know this type existed....it is super heavy or could it be made into a comfortable single/fixie with some nice road tyres??
-
• #28465
Its pretty heavy, but thats mainly to do with the hubs and wheels which weigh a ton. The Bottom bracket is quite flexy, but it copes fine with 14 stone of me stamping own on it to skid the Coaster Brake.
I am sure you could SS/Fix one up, it looks like it will fit 700''s, but there would be toe overlap.
-
• #28466
Cheers! Can see what you mean about the overlap and it might look a little funny with 700's on account of the forks... Looks great in current state though and like it would be fun to tootle around in; love the new winebox too, enjoy!

Black frame has arrived.
Wow! Thats is absolutely gorgeous KC, your taste in bikes has definatley rocketed since i last was on here!
-
• #28468
the whole frame on the tube riders are quite flexy, we use a tube rider as our delivery/hack/errands bike at our shop, but it does make a good runabout as it is essentially bombproof and very upright, which is nice when its under load or pulling a trailer

I can't believe the value of those px track bikes.
@ kc, what size is yours?
-
• #28470
Just bought this from peter on retrobike (I think he sells here too). Very excited, first road bike I've owned for a few years.
-
• #28471
Nice :-)
I'd get all black tape though, but that's just me
-
• #28472
Black cloth tape would look sweet.
Nice rims and nice geo on the frame.
That saddle looks uncomfortable.

KC, what tyre clearance has that P-X got? I'm psyching myself up to get one, and I was wondering if I could squeeze some 25's in there...
PLEASE get one Morgan

Halfway there:
http://www.lfgss.com/picture.php?albumid=1280&pictureid=7929
Got new bar tape, brakes, and seat post on the way. The wheels could do with a bit of a clean, too. Would prefer silver rims but would also prefer to keep the cost down. Nicer cranks also on the wish list.
BTW, does the Look really take a 31.8 seat post? Everybody else has standardised on 31.6 for oversized posts, so there's nothing nice available in 31.8 and it would need a very thin shim.
