Suggestions of wild swimming places please, or just say which you\d prefer from this list (bear in mind mileage)

  • erm NO to salford although its good on the mileage, I'd be up for the Buxton place, it looks amazingly clear and tropical!

  • im up for blue lagoon, it looks tropical but actually not as nice as it looks on photos and you get really dry when you get out because of the lime:

  • I can't stand swimming pools, sea, rivers and stuff. though of what could be in the water makes me sick.

  • Lumb Falls for sure! It looks like a scene from Lord of The Rings! ... Rivendell if I remember correctly.

  • ** DATE CHANGE TO 18TH JULY ***

Meet at 11am at Unicorn carpark, chorlton for a ride to an outdoor swimmin location

We shall be riding to Padley Gorge.
    http://peakdistrict.nationaltrust.org.uk/padley-gorge

It is about 35 miles to get there.

It will prob take about 2.5 hours to get there, the route we'll take is here:
    http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=142745

If people would prefer to cycle some of the way and train some of the way, or ride there train back or whatever there is a station nearby (one reason why this location was chosen) Train station is Grindleford, it takes 1.5 hours with no changes

    Distance 35.10 miles
    Estimated Time 2:28:18
    Ascent 2232 feet
    Descent 2902 feet
    Start Elevation 771 feet
    Finish Elevation 101 feet
    Minimum Elevation 101 feet
    Maximum Elevation 1315 feet

  • Nes, I'm wondering if I should do this fixed or with gears. I consider myself a strong athlete and would really like to do it fixed but haven't done anything this distance fixed before so advice would be appreciated. It's the long downhills and the not having the super high gears that I'm mostly concerned about ... mostly.

What do you reckon? ... Or is this a totally ridiculous suggestion?

  • Nooo! change the date back, were all in Geneva that weekend :(

i was really looking forward to this when it was on the 11th

  • Nooo! change the date back
