I've got a set, they''re good, they're stiff only real downside is they're a bit ugly if that matters to you.

omniums are ace. personally i dont think they are ugly but each to their own. outboard bb ftw. square taper ftl.

Thanks, looks like the omniums are a pretty safe bet, price is not bad either.

I am planning to use SRAM S-300 crankset in a Curve D3 folding bike. This bike has very little room, so it is important to know the Q-factor on the cranks to make sure my heel doesn't hit the shifter cover of the internal gear hub.
Could any of you giveme an approximate meassure of what the Q-factor of this crankset is? Thanks -

Found this review interesting, (found after a quick google). www.roadbikereview.com/.../truvativ/PRD_418617_2491crx.aspx Are any of these points valid?

thats simply wrong though, the crank comes with 2 spacers so you can adjust the chainline.
i run mine without either spacer and the chainline is dead on 42mm.

Ditto. Chainline is perfect with the 2 hubs and loads different cogs I've tried.
Easy to install/service as well. All done with a 9mm hex key. The Bottom Brackets are not exactly pricey either.

they are if you use chris king ones.

The known problem that these cranks can cause is the back of the chainring bolts can hit the chainstays as due to the design they tend to be closer. So if you have chunky/wider spaced chainstays they could be very close. Could always space it out but then chainline would be over 42mm.

Im using Omnuims now and they are ace. Was a bit worried about the clearance on my frame before buying, but have about 3mm clearance with fairly chunky aluminium chain stays.
Only fault for me is the weight. They are a little porky compared to DA.

I'm considering some SRAM Omniums or a FSA Carbon Track ISIS for a bike which will be used on the road. Omniums are a bit cheaper, but I notice the bottom bracket on the FSA ISIS is adjustable for chainline reasons. Anyone know if that's a big advantage? My new frame has 130mm spacing at the back and I'm getting some wheels made with Royce hubs. Bit concerned about chainline issues as. this being my first new-build, I'm slightly out of my depth on this issue.

Urgh, ISIS is not nice(s).

(unless they've radically improved the sealing since I've had the system 'on ignore')

has anyone used the 'on one' copies of the omniums? at £100 for the 165's with a bb and 48 ring it seems like a good deal but not sure how the quality will compare to sram

I've had a set for about a month and once I can afford it I'm going to get myself some omniums.
The chainring came far from round and has a pretty big left-right wobble in it too. Pretty sure mine wasn't a duff set as a mate has had the same problem.
The left hand crank compression bolt fell out after about 2 days too, but that was down to my own fault (might have helped if the bolt was a little longer though.) Finding another one was pretty bloody hard too, ended up using a bolt from my megaexo fsa cranks on my mountainbike after on-one couldn't source me a replacement.still for £100 they're not too bad. nice and stiff and they're shiny which is nice

Yep - got a set when they were £80. Fitting is fine and no issues with the chainring, and nice and shiny too. I was either unlucky or the bearings are shite, RHS BB Cup, fell apart inside 3 months, and was in a right state when I looked at it. Since replaced with some Token BB cups.

I have a used FSA Carbon Pro track chainset for sale. 49 tooth 1/8th ring + Platinum ISIS track BB (english)
£100
I have been advised from my local bike shop to go down the sram omnium route for a new set of cranks, to be honest I had started looking around for a set of second hand dura ace. Has anyone had any posotive experience with the omnium cranks or would I be better off with shimano?
Thanks.
