So effectively the thomson is a kinky inline post that ends up giving a similar position to a traditional straight post where the clamp is offset.
and I like it as it means the same great clamping mechanism can be used as on the straight post. The amount of setback is not as much as a 'normal' post though and I always end up have my saddle back past the recommended area on the rails.
