Yes. The tone of the OP, vv, was exemplary. My comment wasn't aimed at anyone in particular.

VV is spot on. He just needs to come forward and sort it out with the sellers. The last time something like this happened, IIRC, the seller had some family issues.
Put away the pitchforks and torches. Life often gets in the way of forum things. Most of you should be aware of that.

Well he came on a ride and met people, it's not like he's some shady crim.
Is not???? The guy is stealing from "our people"...????

Agreed, the more shit he gets of people which it doesn't concern, the less likely he is to sort it all out.

I think Lush has is spot on, I would go to his house to talk to his parents before you go anywhere near the police. I don't think there is any value in going down to 14.
Although what he is doing is bad and I can understand you wanna 'teach this guy a lesson', he looks like he cant be older than 16 and it would be a shame to give the lad a criminal record for the sake of what is, let's face it, really not that much money in the long run.
Think back to when you were that young, he is probably shitting it, probably does not want to tell his dad, probably does not have enough money to pay you back, probably thinks if he ignores it then it will all go away. Maybe I'm giving the guy a little too much credit and he is actually just a wormy little shit, who knows.
You have his address, go and talk to his parents, if they are not in then leave a letter. If that does not work, go to the police. I'm sure this can be sorted fairly swiftly.

Exactly.

Fukk would just be easier if he gave me back the money!!! Who has is address? I'll go around to his place.
BeauE, as a parent, can I suggest putting it in writing, and sending it recorded delivery? Someone turning up on my doorstep with less than favourable comments about one of my kids, no matter how true, is likely to get a good mouthful, or even worse. Dad will want to hear both sides, and the last thing in the world you want is for things to degenerate into a slanging match with Dad calling the police.
Give them ten days to respond, and I am sure Dad will sort it out. Also comments in your letter like "he seemed like a nice lad, and it could be a misunderstanding" will help in getting the result you deserve.
And I remeber meeting him on the marathon ride, and found him good company. I agree with Velocio; he is shirking his responsibilities, rather than being some arch crim.

Isn't criminal record are largely up to the victim who decided whether to prosecute him? if so, the police can arrest him, and the victims can choose not to prosecute him thus not putting a criminal record on his files.
I do know that once there's a criminal record on files, people simply no longer care about trying to obey the law since with a CR, no one would likely to look twice at your resume.

Gets removed at 18 though doesn't it?
-
• #339
Unless he's older, we don't know that for sure.
anyhow, 1+ on written letters, but BeauE, if you write to the parents of this child in the same manner as you write on this forum, they're very likely to ignore your letters.

Why am I getting involved? I was actually involved in hm contacting hippy and beaue previously. Thus I thought I may as well use the same communication channel a second time.
So I shall put the question back to you, what business do you have getting involved?

Because you're attract to drama as much as a 13 years old is attract to Eastenders.

Good point Ed. Where's Clive when we need him -I'm sure he could shed some light on the subject and offer decent advice.
I employed a bloke with a criminal record - a really hard worker who's dedicated. For want of a better expression, he got in with the wrong crowd but has now seen the error of his ways.
By the way, this isn't aimed at you dj!

I'm not, I just think that the only people who should be contacting anyone are those directly involved in the transactions or VB or his chosen officials.
-
• #346
Right, enough. This is about to become a joke. There have been some constructive comments on here which the people directly involved can use so I personally think its time for the rest of us (me included) to leave this thread until there is some form of resolution.
It's a sorry situation and I hope it ends well for all parties.
