I need a 47 chain ring, I do have a 48, can I grind off one tooth and use it as a 47? Seems feasable to me
No, the number of teeth is a reflection of the chainring circumference. All you'd be doing is increasing wear on the other 47 teeth by 1/48th.
I presume you want more skid patches, and/or more gear inches. Cutting off a tooth will do nothing towards this.
