What size Pompino?

  • Am thinking of purrrrchasing a Pompino. I'm 6'2", what size should I be looking at?
Cam you must be a similar height to me, what size is yours?

  • i'm 6.3 and have the xl for polo

  • Rupert and I, also similar heights (I'm 6'2", I think Rupert's an inch or two taller), have the XLs.

  • Im seriously considering the idea of going down a size for polo when the disc mount version comes out in a couple of months...

  • Ok right I thought peeps might be going for a smaller size than you would normally, polo innit, but XL it looks like. I'll have to have a spin on someone's.

  • The compact geometry seems to make up for that need for a smaller bike.

  • I thought that until I actually rode a smaller one. The slightly shorter TT doesnt look like it should make that much difference, but it really does..

  • Dan, it's not your overall height that's important for frame-sizing, it's your inside leg measurement, which isn't necessarily related to your overall height.

The best way is to try Snoops' or Mark's. Looking at the sizing guide, and geometry numbers, you could be able to get away with an L. However, this is only worth considering if the wheel-base is shorter than on an XL, which figure isn't given on the site, but given that the head and seat angle is the same on the L and XL, would seem to be the case (unless the c-stays on the L are longer than on the XL, which seems unlikely).

A shorter wheel-base means quicker turns.

  • I'm having difficulty getting properly set up on my pompino. The seat tube angle according to the website is 73.5 degrees, which is the same as my road bike. However, with the saddle in roughly the same position on the seat post, I'm ending up with the saddle further back behind the BB. I think this may be causing me to not have enough power going through the pedal stroke.

  • Yeah, the seat tube angle seems really relaxed. I keep falling off the back of mine.

  • mine fits me perfect, xl

  • Yeah, it's weird isn't it. Means I've now got a handlebar reach of 56cm on the pompino, compared to 59cm on the road bike. I'd expect to me more stretched out on the road bike, but that 3cm feels pretty drastic.

  • Yeah, the seat tube angle seems really relaxed. I keep falling off the back of mine.

That was not the fault of the bike cam.
