This is a bit cheeky but I'm an usher at a wedding soon and we have to get personalised designs embroidered in the back of our waistcoats. Was thinking the 'Cog on the Tyne' logo but maybe with some polo mallets slung over the top of it would be ace. Phil, is this something that could be done quickly (i.e. today)? Will def have to wear it for the odd polo match if it happens. Don't worry if it's a pain in the arse.

A while ago people were saying about doing a northern tweed run, well I just watched this video http://vimeo.com/11594884
and it got me thinking why dont we do something completely different to a tweed run and do a toon run. Newcastle strips, brown ale, pease pudding..all things geordie, is this a good idea or not? hmmm. Anyone? -
• #190
i think its a good idea, to do something different to the tweed run, but i think football shirts is a very bad idea. shame its one of the only newcastle looking things
-
• #191
i agree, making it different is good, football shirts bad. i think the idea of the tweed run was to celebrate vintage cycling not london though so it's not as if we would be copying or anything. anyone have a different idea?
-
• #192
Northern Vintage - flat caps, whippets, pigeons, that kinda thing? Just a suggestion, not a recommendation. Deffo not feelin' the football thing.

dirty coal miners?

Nia suggested Jarrow marchers

Ace plan. Will def give this some thought. Would need to scrape together a decent number of people for a bit of impact.
Didn't the Jarrow Crusaders manage 250 miles or so? Just putting it out there... but would anyone find that theme ever-so-slightly disrepectful if we essentially rode to the pub on our (in many cases) expensively assembled bikes.
Possibly over analysing and love the gist of it.

Go for it, they're some pretty tasteful shoes. Having said that, tried cycling in leather-soled shoes last week. Bad idea. Had to go very slowly to prevent tarmac pain.

Just love them wooden soles

i reckon just getting tweed'd up would do? you'd have to tie the whippet to the handlebars!
just do a decent country run stopping at a few pubs etc. durham would be ideal, you can take bikes on some buses i think?
we'd defintely need good numbers. we tried getting a list together a while ago but all of four people put their names down. -
