I think we need a list thread with tyre clearances.
I can't be fucked to sort it out though, sorry. x -

And no worries! I guess Gatorskins in 23'll do the trick.
(Although, if I remember correctly, there's this one sad fucker, here, who hates ze German rubber. I fear he might chime in, just to bash Krauts.)

A few years since I had my Bareknuckle but that front fork is very tight, may just get a 25c in there dependant on maker (Conti for example as they are usually optimistic with their sizes)
And that would be the problem for a tyre clearance DB,what tyre would be used as they all come up different even though they are supposed to be the same size!

Okay. So I could try some Conti 25s there. This is good to know.

23c no prisoners.

I did say 'may'. Worth finding someone with a 25c on their front wheel and trying it first.

I got 25c Gatorskin on the rear and 23c on front on my BareKnuckle. I believe it would take 25c also on front, but haven´t tried. I got 28c Randonneur for a while, but the clearance was so tight, that it scraped the chainstays. Anyway, the 25c Gatorskin works fine, if your rear wheel is true.

Tämä selvä.
I've a pair of Michelin Krylions and ordered Gatorskins in 25. I'm pretty sure I'll find a combo that works.

This made me spit tea at the screen.
THANKS.

from hubjub
"The frame is rated for tyres up to 23mm and there's not a whole lot of room for mudguards."

I had one. coupla years back.
Unless they changed the geo, you will be pushing a 25c, probably have to set it back in the track ends a bit. With a frame like that though, I don't see why you'd want big tyres! if you want more than 23c then you're doing it wrong or you want another frame.

Well I've no reason to doubt Teemu, so I think Will might've been too cautious with the numbers (or that Continental is not able to size their tires right).

oh i wasn't suggesting that teemu was wrong, they have one of course, just giving other info.

It's more like "I haven't too much money so would be happy to get by with what I already have" than "I gots to have fatties under me".
If the Gators won't fit, I have to buy something else. Not the end of the world, just a bit of a setback.
And it seems the Bareknuckle isn't a dying breed. At some point they were to be superseded by the Toyo Godzilla, weren't they?

Aye,
Not a bad thing if you replace gatorskins anyway is it? terrible tyre. -

Aye,
Not a bad thing if you replace gatorskins anyway is it? terrible tyre.Well, I've had one ruptured sidewall, but other than that, they've been good. Changed the rear to a 4 Season. I liked it. Keep in mind I haven't used any other brand.
Was saving the Michelin Krylions for a geared bike, but that remains to be seen. I'm still looking for hubs for a Campagnolo cassette. Had no idea they'd be either A) that expensive or B) so fucking hard to find.

Shameless bump just to ask if anyone would know any alternatives for Campagnolo or DT Swiss hubs?
I saw these Miche road hubs, but no idea if they are 32h. And then I saw a Miche road gruppo, too. Judging by the price I doubt they are anything special. Tried to Google info, but didn't find any.

i've got a Bareknuckle. I have got a 28c tyre on the rear .. but the axle has to be all the way back in the dropouts. It's very tight with 28c tyres .. the one I had on was a specialized all-condition.
hope that helps.

Thanks, man.
I think it's best to stay at 25c or lower, then.

That miche gruppo is just campag xenon components with generic cranks that have had miche written on them with tipex.

I checked the fork clearance and there´s a plenty of room. Would take 28c easily. The rear is tight so the 25c is max.

Gotcha, now I know.
The perv in me would still buy them instead of Shimano Tiagra. If nothing else, just to different. And like everybody knows, that is the single most important thing in the world!

That suggests that they were not consistent as a 28c would not fit in the Bareknuckle fork I had. Nobody said it was going to be easy :-)
Hi all,
I gather the frame does not allow the use of Vittoria Randonneurs (in size 28). What's the widest you are able to use on a Bareknuckle?
Wondering what to buy.
