Hey late to the thread but we too are tandemistas....
The UK tandem club is a bit socks and sandals and the US clubs better on modern techy stuff- get onto the tandem@Hobbes site/list. We picked up our ally Trek in Exeter and rode it home to London's famous London in a few days- steep learning curve!
