Saw an accident this morning

btw, i now scream 'oi' at distracted crossing pedestrians. i do it so loud that i can feel my chest vibrating. most times it sounds like an angry pitbull bark, but it works just fine.

I do the same - especially when you get the ped who just suddenly steps in the road and then decides to look. If you shout REALLY loudly, it freezes them in their tracks before they put their foot under your front wheel. Then as I whistle past their nose, I say "Soooorrryyyyyyyy..." on the way by.

BTW I just want to say, peds on mobile phones are a fucking menace.

And I don't think anyone else has said it yet, but I hope the rider is ok.
