Get one from a shelter if possible. A lot of people with unneutered cats are usually able to get the offspring rehoused through friends and social networks and have some time that they can spare on looking after kittens until they find a home. Cats from shelters are often from far more desperate situations and in much greater need for help. Depsite having several bikes out in the open, not the cleanest of houses and shelving full of power tools on display in the front room, the assessor didn't see a problem with approving us for adopting.
