i know of a few lynskey built mtb's that seperated at the stay/dropout.
i'm guessing but maybe it's because it's thin wall tubing to 1/4 in plate and getting enough heat into the thick bit doesn't do the thin bit any favors? that's why thick plate dropouts are often brazed to the stays on tigged steel frames (well they are on my mtb)
