Volunteering in Sierra Leone

Hi,

I've just got a place on a volunteer program in sierra leone for 2 months helping street kids make films. I have just over a month to raise about £1500 for plain tickets and accomodation. I would like to start a sponsorship web page in order to recieve donations but im not having much luck finding sites that allow me to do it.

does anybody know of any?

have tried just giving but they only seem to let you raise money to donate to charity rather for your self to do something proactive.

Why not make a film/documentary about the project. Could end up as a BBC or Channel4 short?

Make films?
Is that really what the street kids of Sierra Leone need?

iv been to india and zimbabway before so im used to seeing extreme poverty but people are different where ever you go. biggest culture shock i ever had was living up north for 3 years.

Im sure they need alot more but they are also very enthusiastic and enjoy making music and films they just need people to help them and give them the equipment to do so. the projects have been very successfull so far. the films can also be used to raise awarness back here about people living in sierra leone giving people a better idea of what they might or might not need....

Yeah im definatly considering it. have got a cheap video camera so will try and get as much footage as i can and see what i can do with it when i get home
