  • also his bike wasn't drilled for brakes. you're all just jealous of his whip (like me)

  • @edscoble. What make is that rack? I seem to remember seeing it posted before but cant find it now.
    nevermind i found the website.

No excuse, plenty of shop in London sell brakes that mounted on the fork arms.

well he said he'd been a sponsored cyclist for a while. he also said "of course i can skid, i wouldn't be able to stop otherwise". let's hope he's alright

  • Jammy's Feather

    Nice work Ricky!

  • i saw this in the pub on friday. bad pic but its a gan well pro with dura ace to araya wheelset and i thought it was absolutely bangin! the owner was called lee and he'd only been riding fixed for a month! and he'd never heard of lfgss, shock horror

    here you go, Tokyo Fixed Gear build it for him;

  • Great bike for a Geordie.

    I like that frame.

  • you are an internetz genius. and it looks even nicer with a real picture

  • following the bamboo/wood theme...
titanium lugs, carbon fiber tubes with a cherry wood finish.

  • Nice wheels.

  • Save yourself the building time and buy mine :-)

And attach disc brakes with clamp bands or zip-ties...

  • Wood == antiporn, It's a silly material for bike building.

  • Isn't cherry a dense wood and quite heavy? Bamboo is light and hollow at least.

It's probably just to get it back over the UCI weight limit once you've put those Edge wheels on there.

  • But surely enough people are putting Rohloffs on drop bar bikes that Rohloff should get their arse in gear .

    ? lots
There are loads of botch jobs out there, to get a Rohloff shifter on drops. They're all a bit poo.

    This looks so much fun!

Not pretty, but I can see the thinking behind every component choice, and the frame is very nice indeed. Would just use a fatter front tyre.

hmm. I do believe that the use of disk brakes in cycloX racing is not permitted. Oh...and i nearly forgot...my dad was arkansas cycloX state champion 3 years running...so you know...maybe i know fuck all!

Loads of cyclocross bikes have disc's these days (want one myself), not everyone races. You have a point though, as the trueblood is priced such that you'd want to be allowed to race it (though theres plenty of 5k Cervelos out there that'll never see a race).

  • 49 x 18 at the moment but going to go down a couple of teeth.

I raced on a disc equipped cross bike last season. Most cross races are not UCI sanctioned and it's only National Trophy level races in the UK which are so for the vast majority of cross races discs are permitted.

My dad's never been Arkansas cyclocross champion though so what do I know?

That was kind of my point. People willing to pay >£800 for a hub would probably spring for an extra £300 for a decent drop bar shifter.

He didn't say disc brakes were essential, although I'll throw in an Avid BB7 road front calliper if somebody wants it.

  • These are Zouo's bikes :)

  • Yep! Gentry alert!!!

  • Troll?

    OK I'll bite

Fixie inc is the brand name and the bike can be run safely both SS or fixed. They even do some nice geared bikes.
Component manufacture 'Lightweight' does often place its brand on its product, yes.

thanks. i get it. my point is that on both accounts, it looks shit.

  • re 'fixie inc.' ss, it's kinda akin to a tit who wears a ferrari cap while mincing around in his mum's mazda mx5.
