  • My point (a short scroll upwards) was "Most parents don't see the value though, they see bikes as Toys" (that view is then transferred to the kids)

If the kid got to test ride the "Atomic Streetslayer*" against the Isla you can bet they'd choose the Isla. When did you eveer see a kid test riding a Tesco bike?

It's not in the retailers interest to educate people, as they're doing well enough out of selling BSO's.

    • I'd sort of love to have the job of naming future BSO's. I'd be shit at it though.

Honestly I do think kids would rather choose the BSO dualie against the comparatively bland looking Isla. I did used to sell kids bikes after all, and my little bro is 8 and isn't interested in anything except Power Ranger Syndrome dualies even though my parents only really take him out on canal paths and country lanes. Even if he test rode them I don't think he'd care. (he doesn't ride a BSO btw, I built him a half decent bike and painted it how he wanted so that he'd actually ride it)

And Islas are too expensive to be mainstream. Most non-cyclists aren't willing to spend £300 on their own bikes, let alone bikes for their kids.
